We are under attack! Wake up!

Edit: It looks like the Wolf that hit me deserves a critical confirmation roll?

You are right I missed that.

Critical Confirmation:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15

Chiron actually manages to kill the wolf that attacked him. So Naen you cast bless on your turn.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Because my computer acces is limited right now, On his next turn...

Chiron lets loose a loud shout of triumph! He charges the nearest living wolf, drawing his greatsword as he goes.

Attack 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 2) + 4 = 10

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Please add 2 to both rolls there. I forgot my favored enemy bonus.

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

I was so tired when I read this the first time I did not know we were in combat, sorry about that. Was I on watch or sleep?

Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

If I am awake I stand up and pull my bow out.

If I am already awake then I will take a different action.

Chiron wrote:

It probably doesn't matter because your favored enemy bonus brings your attack roll to a 17, but you would also have a +1 morale bonus from Bless.

Are we waiting on Carmichael prior to learning the initiative results of Round 1?

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

I guess you weren't on watch yet, H'vok, as maybe you wouldn't have fallen asleep. I'd just act as though you were asleep.

I'm waiting for Carmichael to post before I post my next action, or at least some indication of what has happened this round.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I'm sure none of us wants to be "that person" but I think I may not be the only one who is frusterated with the pacing of this game. Is anyone else feeling this way? If its just me, I'll just shut up :)

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

No it ain't just you. I think once we agreed to go to spot X we should have been there. I am all for RP'ing but once we agree to be at X not much more needs to be said. Erefine you just need to speed things up a little. The other game has a better pace to it.

PA: After being introduced to the bandits I am pretty much itching to get to them(at the secondary camp). That may be the issue.

Female Human Cleric 1

I am frustrated as well. We have a great group here and I like this game a lot, but I would like a to see the pacing pick up a little.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

I am in agreement. I would like to see the pace go a lot faster! I rather like the group and our interactions so far. I apologize if anybody was annoyed at my in-game questions - I was just trying to keep banter going, since there wasn't much plot happening.

I wonder if Carmichael has vanished.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I am certainly not annoyed by questions. I think Carmichael may have left us. If he hasn't perhaps he should be available to post more often.

What do you think Erfine? Can we speed things up with or without Carmichael? It seems that William, Naen, H'vok, and myself are all consistently present. Is there anything we can do to make this easier on you?

Impossible! Invisibility is a second level spell! Okay, I'm done being stupid (not really).

I like William's questions! They're not annoying in the least.

I knew what the questions were for so it was cool with me. If Carmicheal drops we might want to consider recruiting an arcanist unless later on.

I haven't heard from Carmichael so I will assume he has dropped. I will look to get an arcanist at a later date. Update to rules: I will give people 5xp for each post they put up so how fast your character levels is up to you. But a two word post deosn't count. I would like to encourage social roleplay as well as plot roleplay.

Recap of Round:
The wolves descend upon your camp after Carmichael fell asleep on his watch. Chiron himself manages to dispatch the Alpha Wolf. The other wolves nip and bite, but little damage is done.

Wolf 1:
Upon hearing Chiron kill the Alpha wolf turn on Chiron and attacks:
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
If hit:
1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Wolf 2:
Goes back to the hobgoblin in shiny armor:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
If hit:
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wolf 3:
Sees Naen do something and turns on her.
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
If hit:
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
Wolf 4 nips at William:
1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
If hit:
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Am I prone and sleep when attacked or was I awake?

H'vok Brinestone wrote:

For this second attack you were awake and most likely standing at this point.

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Hav'k curses his luck at not being able to use his bow.
He then angrily draws his scythe and attacks.
Move Action:Pull out the Scythe

Standard Action: Attack
Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Damage Roll: 2d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2) + 3 = 7

Almost dropping the scythe, he remembers the scene back at Olegs, and tries to calm himself.

Female Human Cleric 1

Because Naen isn't wearing armor and is prone, the wolf's 8 hits her.

Wincing in pain, Naen pulls herself to her feet. This provokes an attack of opportunity.

Wretched beasts! Naen tightens grip on her morningstar and focuses. I have faced wolves before.

She swings overhand, attempting to bring her weapon down on the wolf's neck.

Attack roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

If it hits: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

H'vok Brinestone wrote:

You attack is wide and the tip of your scythe digs into the mud.

If it hits: 1d8+3

Attack of Opportunity:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

If hit: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Naen your morningstar swings wide and manages to hit the trunk of the tree near you.

William notches another arrow in his longbow and draws it back taking aim at the nearest wolf.
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
If hit: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Chiron after dispatching the Alpha Wolf draws his greatsword and attacks the other male wolf.
Power Attack:1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If hit:2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10

William's arrow strikes true and an arrow lands in the right eye of the wolf, all the while Chiron's greatsword misses and cleaves off the paw of the already dead alpha wolf.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

I would appreciate it if you didn't presume our actions, Erefine. You are correct in that I was going to use my bow, though you had my modifiers wrong. I may have had another action in mind entirely, though, like an attempt at Wild Empathy, or some clever trick. This goes especially since you plan to give us XP per post - if you remove our reason to post, you are removing our motivation to play in your game. I'm sorry I couldn't post yesterday, but I would like it if you let us make our own plans.

I'm sorry if that came across as harsh, but I feel like players need to be able to make their own choices in this game, and I don't think I'm alone in that.

William reaches for another arrow, the adrenaline of the fight coursing through him. He is aching from where the wolf took a bite out of his side, but he hopes they are doing as much or more in return. This pack messed with the wrong adventuring party.

William's next Blessed, Point Blank arrow: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 for 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 damage.

HP 10/12

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

You got the other group's permission to run character's not this one. I know some of us are in both of your games, but I think each group should still be kept separate. The only thing we get to control is our character which is why it is important to us. At the same time I don't want to hold the group up if my internet goes haywire(which happens way too much) or another commitment keeps me away so I am fine with you filling in for me after a 24 hour absence by the way.
The rest of us should make our decisions on the issue to get it out of the way. PbP games are killed by stagnant posting more than anything else it seems, so if someone does not post in a reasonable amount of time I would say we make move on without their input if a decision has to be made.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

You're right, H'vok. When the game goes so long without an update, I stop looking for it to check it, and I'm sure others do too. This soon spirals out of control, as we check the post, but aren't inspired to do anything with it.

For the future, if it happens that I can't post (say, after a day or so), I completely approve of making a play for me, as long as it moves the game along. In this case, I didn't see actual progress - if that was all he was going to post, it wouldn't have been a problem to wait a few more hours for my input.

For my part, I will simply post more often (I'm sure here enough!). If I'm out of line, I'm really sorry, and I'll shut up now.

You don't sound out of line to me. You're simply stating your preference. I'm of the same mind with Naen. The qualifications you discuss above make sense to me. If I haven't posted in a day or so, and you need to move the story along, that's fine.

I also want to make quick mention that Chiron said he wouldn't be able to post, so he specified his Round 2 action ahead of time (and rolled for it.

Naen tugs on her morningstar, trying to pull it loose from the tree.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

I did roll for my round two a page back...
In other news, I GOT INTERNET BACK TODAY!
I agree that 24 hours is the time when the GM should DMNPC a character.
I will post again after round two is resolved.

You guys are right I apologize. I will only do something after a 24hr absence and only to move the story along. This is just a rather insignificant combat in the scheme of things so I was just trying to hurry it along so that you all could enjoy yourselves. I want the game to be enjoyable for everyone. So I was out of line and I am sorry.
Thanks for the catch Naen I missed that Chiron had actually posted two rounds worth of actions.

In round 2 Chiron and William manage to kill off 2 more wolves. Leaving 2 wolves remaining.
Can I get someone to roll a knowledge nature and a handle animal checks?

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Handle Animal 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Knowledge Nature 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Meh

Perhaps William can aide you on the rolls with a bonus.

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Knowledge Nature: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Handle Animal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

William whistles to draw the attention of the remaining members of the pack, and attempts to gently calm them down, using what he knows about wolves. He remains stern and stoic, hoping that they will flee, or at least back down in respect.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Nice! Also, for the record, I like the witch on the recruitment thread Erfine. Would make for fun times methinks.

I like her too. Nice rolls, William! I will wait to see how the wolves react before I specify Naen's next action.

Due to William's knowledge and skill with animals you are able to tell that the last two wolves are juvenials probably no more than a year old. What do you wish to do with the wolves?

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

Is it wrong/possible if my answer to that question is domestication and training? That would be so interesting. It's a portion of the rules I've never worked with before. I understand if it's untenable - we probably can't get them to stay with us.

Also, it might be fun to be known as "the Young Wolf"... :)

With your high roll it is possible as their disposition is more neutral to all of you now.

Though the wolves seem to have stopped their attack, Naen stands on guard, reaching slowly down to pick up her shield.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

Chiron stands in near awe as the young man steps among the wolves and manages to call them down.

"They never trust me like that. Then again, I'm usually collecting their pelts. You are a most fascinating human William Flynn."

Please oh please domesticate the wolves. Maybe they can become your animal companion?

M Hobgoblin Druid 1

Hav'k is surprised, having never seen an animal "talked down". He pulls his scythe out of the mud, and tells Flynn:

"That was impressive, but what do we do now?"

Female Human Cleric 1

William can speak with wolves? Amazing...

"Is anybody hurt?"

Male Human Ranger (Trapper) 1

It took me a moment to decide on my path. :)

I am injured, Naen. One of the wolves caught me while I slept.

You may go back to sleep. I will take on the watch for a while. They will not hurt you.

(Is Carmichael alive? Still sleeping? Mysteriously vanished?)

William sits in the corner of the camp, talking gently to the wolves and feeding them scraps of meat left over from dinner. He marvels that the wolves are still there, and he's decided to make the most of it.

He keeps an eye out for any remaining threats.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Female Human Cleric 1

Naen channels energy, healing everybody in 30 ft. (including the wolves).

1d6 ⇒ 1

As this seems to have had little effect, shes does so again. She has exposed her wrist, and a strange mark on her forearm glows.

1d6 ⇒ 2

I think that tops everybody off, but I'm happy to have Naen do it again if anybody is still down HP. I too am curious about Carmichael. If he's gravely injured, Naen will try to do something for him.

Given time you would find this so no need to roll survival
As you survey your camp you notice that during the wolf attack Carmicheal happened to run away. The directions of his footstep lead you to believe that he ran back to Oleg's, but you also notice a set of wolf tracks that seemed to follow him.

Male Centuar Ranger 1

"I know that we should search for Carmichael, but part of me wishes to let nature have her way with the coward."

Chiron beats the ground irritably with his hooves.

Female Human Cleric 1

Erefine:
Hey, I saw that you invited Emalea the witch into the game, and I'm thrilled to have her in the group. I was wondering, though, are you interested in having Bilbo Bang-Bang's paladin join us as well? If I recall, Bilbo was originally offered a spot in this game. He actually just joined a game that I'm running. He may have simply missed that you selected him back in June, and I certainly wouldn't mind sending him in the direction of this thread if you'd still like to have him. Of course, if you'd rather not, that's totally fine too. I just thought I should mention it.

Naen Tesrec wrote:
