I am pretty new to PFS and there is not a PFS group here in this area. I am going to start building one up though. I will be running more PFS games then I play, and looking at the chronicle sheet for, "We Be Goblins!" I really hope that I can somehow gain this chronicle sheet for one of my characters.
Is it possible to gain chronicle sheets for scenarios you have "eaten" as a GM?
|
Yes .. for each scenario you get 2 chronicles .. one as a gm and one as a player, they cannot be applied to the same character.. The exception are some of the module chronicles.. like Godsmouth Heresey
Don't mean to be picky, Thea has it mostly right. I'm going to be picky about some word choices though =)
Galeb, make sure you read and re-read the Guide a few times. Especially about the GM Rewards section. In general terms it is possible to play a scenario and gain a Chronicle for character-1 and also to GM the same scenario and gain a Chronicle for character-2. You may claim these exactly once each.
For level 1 modules, like We Be Goblins!, Godsmouth Heresy and Master of the Fallen Fortress it is possible to claim a Chronicle each time your play or GM as long as they are to a different character. So GM We Be Goblins twice, and you would be able to claim a Chronicle to two different characters as long as they are level 1 or 2 characters, as per the PFS Rules for We Be Goblins which can be found in the Additional Resources page. Same for Godsmouth Heresy. Master of the Fallen Fortress is a slightly different animal, those Chronicles can only be applied to a character as Chronicle #1. A small distinction, but a distinction nevertheless.
Specifically for your case of having run a table of We Be Goblins!, yes, you can claim and apply a Chronicle to a level 1 or 2 character of your own.
Hope this helps, if not let me know and I'll see if I can make it clearer :)

I'm going to be picky on Mark's words now. We Be Goblins! is not like the other level 1 modules. It can only be applied following the 1-and-1 rule. From the chronicle listing:
As always, each player may receive credit for each module once as a player and once as a GM in either order.
|
Oh yeah???
Well, I'm going to be picky, too!
And point out that while you can get the Chronicle for GMing, you do not get access to the boon/special effect on it.;)
Does that mean I won't have access to the items? Because that is all I really want. Access to fireworks... best and worst idea ever.

If you have DM'ed it or Played it, then Yes you can get access to it... and PS.. the sky rocket rocks!!! have 10 of them myself for my magus

Oh noes! That text is missing from the rules pdf! Back to the School for Kids who Can't Read So Good I go...

The fireworks in question are found on page 10 of the Adventurer's Armory which is legal for PFS according to the Additional Resources. So you don't need the chronicle sheet if you have the book (physical or pdf).

Mark, you're going to get picked to death!
If "Godsmouth Heresy" is played with a legal 1st or 2nd PFS character, that character gets a chronicle. Or, you can whip up a new PFS character, and apply the credit to any current character you have. The benefits scale according to character level. Likewise, you can apply the GM benefits to any character.

Mark,
Do you have a citation for the MotFF chronicle being required to be your first chronicle?
No note on the chronicle itself, indeed, the normal "fill in the number" spot, rather than an automatic "1" in teh space.
The only note I can find in the module that appears relevant is that it is a Tier 1 PFS module.

Because it is, yet again, an instance of something that should be more than a single line in the middle of a series of posts about a subject that has multiple different posts about the subject.
This type of thing needs to be notated ON the PFS chronicle or in the PFS module-specific rules page, really.
Threads on MotFF:
Master of the Fallen Fortress
Master of the Fallen Fortress question?
Question about Master of the Fallen Fortress
Played Master of the Fallen Fortress tonight.
Question about resistance cloak in Masters of the Fallen Fortress.
And those are just the ones which mention it in the title, in the Pathfinder Society General Discussion forum, not to mention the ones that have it as part of the discussion, including one that covers being able to gain both GM and player credit for MotFF more than once.
So, one line, buried on page 3 in one of the 5 threads that specifially mention MotFF in the title.... Yeah, easy to find. ^o) Not.
To be honest, I think I read that post, once, when it was first made (Tue, Jun 22, 2010, 11:45 AM), over a year ago, but my memory has always been spotty. And it has never made it into anything official official since then.

To be fair, it should get the same kind of treatment that other Modules have gotten since this is the first sanctioned module and Campaign leadership has changed things can fall between the cracks. However, while not as clear as Josh's statement in the threat, the wording on page 9 of the module itself seems to make the situation pretty clear as well but probably requires Lawful something alignment on the part of the reader.

Callarek wrote:StuffI went to the PFS sub forum, typed "fallen fortress" and it was the first link... not so complicated, or buried really.
The quoted line that shows up is, "Can any Level character other than Level 1 play this mod in organized play, under any circumstance?"
But you have to admit that Callarek has a point. Why isn't the chronicle sheet specifically marked as #1 if it has to be that. That would sure slow down any discussion about this.

Remember that Master of the Fallen Fortress is a print product that was released before the playing of Pathfinder Modules was otherwise sanctioned. There are no specific rules attached with the Chronicle for this because the 16-page module didn't have room for it. We tend not to edit print products in their pdf format to keep both formats identical. If we ever do a reprint of this product, we might consider adding in rules for running this as a PFS event, and would update the pdf to match.

Why not just add the rules to the chronicle sheet just like every other Module?...

Or include it in the notes on the module on the Additional Resources page?
