"The only way to kill a vampire is to stake it in the heart! You fools!"- The old priest in the village.
or drag him into the sunlight for 2 rounds, or immerse him under running water also. i know all that but specifically if a vampire is dropped to 0 hp and goes gas and leaves a temple into the noon day sun will it be destroyed? or does the standard 2 hours to find it's coffin apply

The destruction of a vampire after 6 seconds in sunlight happens regardless of what form it is currently in, so yes, you could kill it if you somehow managed to pin down a vampire in gaseous form when he can seep through stone. But yeah, we can call that plan B.
i apologize i didn't read your quote, fully

so if my pc's deal enough damage to a vampire that it reverts to gas form,
can it then travel int he sun to it's coffin? it says that the gas form is immune to all damage sustained?
is this raw? or rai?
Here's another way to look at it:
Gaseous Form (Su): As a standard action, a vampire can assume gaseous form at will (caster level 5th), but it can remain gaseous indefinitely and has a fly speed of 20 feet with perfect maneuverability.
So, if vampires could travel through sunlight in gaseous form "at will," then the sun wouldn't pose much of a danger to them, right? Thus, you can assume the sunlight is still a fatal threat to them, even in gaseous form.
Finally, on a simpler note:
Exposing any vampire to direct sunlight staggers it on the first round of exposure and destroys it utterly on the second consecutive round of exposure if it does not escape.
The entry makes no mention that its current form affords it any special protection, such as "...unless it is in gaseous form." I would say that its RAW for the vampire to suffer in sunlight, regardless of any other circumstances, forms, etc.

Agree that vampires in any form, even gaseous, are destroyed by exposure to sunlight. 3rd Edition provided some optional Feats for vampires (harkening back to older editions and Ravenloft vampires who got more powerful as they aged) who, by taking the Feat, had become powerful enough to withstand "X amount" of rounds of direct sunlight before being destroyed.
