Words of Power

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So how is it? Now that it's finished, how does it work- I haven't had a chance to buy a copy of the book yet and I'm curious.

:/

It's very limiting, and at first glance it looks like you have to expend a lot of resources to emulate simple spells like Fireball. There are a couple of neat things you can do with it, and a few of the words are pretty cool, but overall it just seems like wasted potential.

I'm not a huge fan.

So pretty much the same as the playtest?

Cause I thought the playtest had potential, but needed a lot of work. If the fireball problem still exists, that's a problem.

It's actually more limited than the playtest. The words no longer have costs in points, but each one has a level.

So for example, in a fourth level spell slot, you can use one fourth level word, two second level words, one third level and one first level word, three first level words or one second level word and two cantrip level word.

It's up on d20pfsrd, right here. Best if you see for yourself and form your own opinion.
