A Question about Amazon...

Technology

Hey folks,

I'll admit it... I've NEVER bought anything from Amazon. In fact, the only place I ever bought something online is right here at Paizo. Given my lack of knowledge about online purchasing, I have a few questions about it, and I know all of you guys will surely clarify everything for me.

Say I want to buy a particular music CD. I check for it online at my local big chain music stores and find that it's NOWHERE to be found as it it a discontinued item. After more reasearch, if find that they have like eight copies for sale...

My question is... Where do these CDs come from if I purchase one? Is AMAZON a wearhouse/store with a zillions things in it? Is it safe to buy there?

Thanks folks.

Amazon has a highly successful warehousing system. If you see it on there for a price you like, go for it. You'll have to jump through a couple hoops to set yourself up an account on there, but don't be afraid of it. They won't sell your email (they make plenty of money on selling merchandise, trust me), and you can opt not to get ads and stuff.

Amazon is the best in class in terms of online shopping.

Something you may want to consider as well: Amazon also has digital mp3 album sales. They're usually at a reduced cost from a physical copy (but not always).

I've purchased several albums this way.

Yes, Amazon is a giant warehouse and if the say they have stock it has been my experience that they truly do have it and will ship it promptly.

Amazon does not have a store front but if you by chance get a damaged product their return policy is complete free (they pay for the shipping back). I have used Amazon, Amazon.ca and Amazon.uk for over a decade and I have had only one order that arrived damaged and required me to request a replacement.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the the responses.

I'll probably go with them. :)

Some of the older, rarer and used stuff is ordered and shipped from third party outlets that Amazon works with. But because it is Amazon placing the order for you your personal info is never given to the third party and you get all the customer protections and guarantees that Amazon offers on all of it's services.
