Alright so I had a question about how this particular feat would work...
I know that on a spell such as fireball the most you can do is 10d6 damage; however with the empower feat would you be able to push that up to 15d6?
Sort of. As a matter of expedience you might try rolling 10d6 and then multiply the result by 150%, a method which is consistent whether your base number of damage dice is even or odd.
And this does not violate the damage cap rules.

Are you sure? I've read elsewhere that if you Maximize and Empower a Fireball, you max only the 10d6 damage and then roll the 5d6. Do you have a reference that states to increase the result by 50%?

I was talking about the empower spell on its on. It works differently with the maximize feat combined with it.
If you combine the maximize feat then you roll the normal dice and take half the result. In either situation the result is adjust not the number of dice rolled.

Maximize Spell (Metamagic)
Your spells have the maximum possible effect.
Benefit: All variable, numeric effects of a spell modified by this feat are maximized. Saving throws and opposed rolls are not affected, nor are spells without random variables. A maximized spell uses up a spell slot three levels higher than the spell's actual level.
An empowered, maximized spell gains the separate benefits of each feat: the maximum result plus half the normally rolled result.
Notice it says the result, not the dice is cut in half.
