D&D version poll

Gamer Life General Discussion

Hello. I've created a D&D version poll at http://www.misterpoll.com/polls/525417.
I did it out of curiosity sake.
It's not policed so no ballot stuffing please

Keep in mind that your results will only tell you so much, given that where you post the link will kind of predetermine who will be participating.

I answered the poll (I play 3.5, Pathfinder and 4e) but am curious why you included Pathfinder as a "version" of D&D but not other clones like Swords & Wizardry, Castles and Crusades etc.

I have a beef when people call pathfinder D&D...dunno why, i just find it insulting

Where is 0E, B/X, and BECMI/RC? And I agree, if you add in Pathfinder, you might as well add in retro-clones as well...and some of the other 3.X alternatives.

Have you advertised your poll on other boards as well? Because if it was just mentioned on Paizo.com, your responses will be quite skewed. :-)

Out of curiosity, who do you think is being insulted?

Pathfinder...it's just one of those irrational things...

I getcha. I happen to see it the other way around - calling Pathfinder D&D is a dis at WOTC, since its essentially saying that WOTC may own the name but Paizo owns the spirit of Dungeons & Dragons.

And since I have no strong love for WOTC, I'm not bothered by the implied insult.

I say dnd just so i don't have to explain what pathfinder is?

and then it is easier for folks to wrap there head around when i say dnd but i use it like "coke" means soda "dnd" means standard roleplaying

Actually, that would be a pretty accurate way i see things. WOTC has the brand name, Paizo has the spirit.
