"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.
It is the soldier, not the organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protestor to burn the flag. "
- Father Dennis Edward O'Brian, USMC

Consider our flag today; red white on a field of blue stars. The blue stars for our dreams, the white for purity; the red for the blood of all those who have died or wounded in service. This day set mostly to remember those of the Great War; but also the War to end all Wars; and the multitude of conficts around the world. A day to ask, who are we; what is our direction for our purity; a day to ask; what are our dreams and are they coming true; a day to ask; what could we do differently so that so many dont have to shed their blood.
but maybe that is flag day coming in June;
love you all my Brothers in Arms.

Thank you and God bless to those who have served. I'm thinking of my grandfather who fought in Italy and North Africa.
My father was in the Pacific.
Should go by the cemetery today. The vets plant flags for all of the servicemen buried there. It's awe inspiring. Even more so, when you see some of the Civil War stones. So much history. So many good people. Heroes, one and all, though most would balk at that title.
