Gamer Connection

  • Sounds like you need a half-orc summoner/rogue!

I have a Halfling Druid that might prove useful. Haven't played RotRL before so I'll read the player's guide and answer the questions as soon as I can.

    Spoiler:
Im currently GMing this game for a homegroup, so ive read the material, but I can keep the knowledge base seperate. Id like to do a human inquisitor who is a cousin to Ameiko and Tsuto from Magnimar. Would that be acceptable, assuming I am picked, or should I go in a different direction?

    Background Questions

    Spoiler:
    1. My parents are Akinjo and Sakira Kaijitsu, previously of Tian Xia, currently living in the city of Magnimar. Both of them are still living, though our relationship is strained at best. I do not hate them, but I do not agree with the plans they tried to lay out for my life. I am thankful for what they have given me, but I need to be my own person.
    3. I am an only child, so the closest thing I had to siblings while growing up were cousins, though some of them I only saw a few times a year, as they did not live near us.
    4. My childhood was an easy one. I have never had to go without unless I chose to. When I was a young boy, I had several friends, though when I started to mature and had to take on training for my family, we grew apart. At this point, I do not know what has happened to any of them. My only rival is my cousin Tsuto. He and I competed at anything that could be called a competition whenever our families were together. I do not hate my cousin, but he has shown me no love, and I feel no love for him, even at the loss of his mother. While I was young, I had no role model, save my father, but when I began my training, I strove to be like my instructors.
    5. My family has never been anything but wealthy, as far as back as I can remember. I do know that we are not originally from this area though, and believe that when our family first came to the area, my grandparents had to work very hard to raise their social standing.
    6. I am able to read and write in more than one language. I owe this to my parents insisting that I receive a very thorough education.
    8. After my training was finished, I went to work for my family’s business, in the glassworks( in Magnimar, not Sandpoint). I have not been there long yet. No more than a year, but others tell me I can becoming more skilled.
    9. I have been trained in several different aspects. Religiously, I was trained by Sister Marietta Sorlin, a cleric of Calistria. Martially, I was trained by Zachariah Swift, or at least that is the name he gave my father when he was hired. In the art of glassmaking, I was first trained by my uncle Lonjiku, though he only taught me the basics, before sending me back to Magnimar to work in my father’s glassworks, instead of his own.
    10. My closest, and only friend, is my cousin Ameiko. She and I have been close since our childhood, despite my rivalry with her younger brother, Tsuto. She gave me a place to stay while I lived in Sandpoint briefly, offered words of advice whenever she felt like it would help, and has always been kind to me.
I would do anything for Ameiko, even die for her if it was necessary.
    14. While I have been trained to kill, I do not revel in it. In fact, I prefer to find some way around killing if at all possible, though I am not afraid to do what is necessary to protect myself or those I care for.
    17. Opposing religions generally do not bother me. There are more paths through life than the one I have chosen. Who am I to tell someone they are wrong in it. I do not hold a deity to blame for the actions of their servants, though I do hold the servant accountable for the actions they do in the name of their deity.
    18. Calistria often glorifies revenge, which I do not always agree with. I do pray to her, and she answers my calls, but thankfully, as of yet, she has asked nothing of me that would compromise my moral outlook on life.
    20. Calistria’s symbol has been tattooed on the inside of both of my forearms. I have never noticed any more of a reaction out of them then I see anyone giving someone wearing a holy symbol of a deity they do not favor.

    Can quickly change scores, etc

I think the sold into slavery/abandoned by parents fits the campaign perfectly for a half-orc!

    Background Questions:

    1. Who were your parents?
    a. Are they still alive? If not, why?
    b. What is your relationship with your parents?

Karlimein's parents were kobolds of the Rustscale tribe. Unfortunately, they were killed by some adventuring Varisians when he was a hatchling. the adventurers weren't quite so sanguine about killing hapless infants, and so Karlimein and his brother were gathered up with the loot and taken back to the nearest town: Sandpoint. They were foisted off on Madame Niska Mvashti after some begging on the part of the group's druid. As such, Karlimein and his brother have grown up to be members of the Sandpoint community.

    2. Do you have any reviled or celebrated ancestors?
    a. Who were they?
    b. How do most others feel about them?
    c. Do others treat you differently once they find out?

The Rustscales used to plague both the local goblins and Sandpoint itself; this alone cause Karlimein trouble as a youth, as the townsfolk were less than trusting of having /a/ kobold in their midst, much less multiple kobolds.

    3. Do you have any siblings?
    a. Are they still alive? If not, why?
    b. Are you still friendly with your siblings?
    c. Do they still live with your parents?

One surviving sibling; his brother grew up with him under Madame Mvashti's care. Given the harassment they faced growing up, the two of them have remained exceptionally close.

    4. What was your childhood like?
    a. Did you have a best friend? Are you still in touch?
    b. Did you have a rival? Are you still rivals?
    c. Did you have a role model? Describe him or her.
    d. Did you witness or remember an event that was historically important? What was it?

Less than pleasant. They were treated with suspicion, derision, and xenophobia for most of their youth, which caused more than a few incidents when Karlimein got jumped by the children of the town and after the ensuing fight the 'evil kobold' was inevitably blamed. He's best friends with his brother, but the next-closest is the tavern's owner, Ameiko, who had a fondness for the 'cute' kobolds as a girl. He never really had a rival, per se; the general animosity of the town was more than enough.

His role model, essentially, was Madame Mvashti, who did much to quell his furious reactions; his reputation was improved during the Late Unpleasantness, when his deft abilities as a scout let him aid the police in tracking down 'Chopper', despite the gruesome findings.

    6. Can you read and write? If not, why?

He is able to read and write in all of his spoken languages; he and his brother have made it a point to make sure they understand their tribal tongue (Draconic).

    7. Have you ever been married or coupled with a significant other?
    a. Are you still together? If not, why?
    b. Do you have any children together? Have you adopted any children?
    c. How do you feel about your significant other’s family?

Being one of two kobolds in a community that doesn't openly welcome their kind, he's never so much as had a date, much less a girlfriend or wife. The closest he's come is Ameiko's fondness for how 'cute' he and his brother are, in her opinion. He wouldn't mind finding a mate, but he's not going out of his way to find one, either.

    8. Did you practice any trades before becoming an adventurer?
    a. Why did you change careers?

He's trained as a mapmaker, but the desire to do something greater with his life keeps him from pursuing a quiet, scholarly life as a cartographer.

    12. What are your goals and dreams in life?
    a. Why do you have these goals?
    b. How do you plan to attain these dreams?
    c. How does adventuring fit into those goals and dreams?

He dreams of restoring the Rustscales to existence, but as a more civilized tribe, an example of what kobolds can become if they're not butchered as vermin or force-pressed into service by larger and more dangerous creatures. Adventuring, for him, is a chance to gather the resources, power, and fame he needs to achieve this goal. Secretly, he also dreams of taking the Trial of the Starstone and proving that kobolds are just as worthy as any other race.

    13. Do you have any retirement plans?
    a. Do you have a will? If not, why?
    b. Who would your possessions and wealth go to if you should meet an untimely end?

Retirement, for him, will amount to either dying or taking the Starstone trial, preferably after raising the Rustscales once more.

    14. How do you feel about killing?
    a. What would drive your character to kill, and why?

He has absolutely no qualms about killing. Better to make one's opponents die than allow them to kill oneself.

    15. How do you feel about death?
    a. Do you believe in the afterlife? Describe your beliefs.

Karlimein is not a fan of the gods, given their general lack of favor for his people. If he dies before he can pursue the Starstone, he suspects his people either end up outcast ghosts or something similar, beneath the notice of any of the gods.

    16. What are your moral or religious beliefs?
    a. How far would you go to defend these beliefs?
    b. Who or what taught you these beliefs?

He's atheistic. He has yet to encounter a god who seems to care about him or any kobolds - if his people have gods, he knows nothing of them, due to his upbringing among humans.

    19. What are your personality traits and personal habits?
    a. How do others react to them?

Quiet, watchful, and wary are the openly defining traits of Karlimein, with a side order of difficulty understanding 'ownership' as something that persists when a person isn't close to an object.

    20. Do you have any distinctive physical traits?
    a. Scars or tattoos? How did you acquire them?
    b. How do people react to them?

He's a rusty-red kobold with sulfur-yellow eyes. That's more than distinctive enough among the unscaled races, and tends to provoke shouting and hostility from those unfamiliar with him.

SO, I jus' realized that the game this character be for has come a cropper.

Is th' page set out in'a way whut meets t' yer likein', Black Fang?

Much cheers t' ye an' yours.

@Kassil: please post your character concept in thread, as I'm having the players select the new PC's.

@"Suny": one day you want to join, the next you don't, then you do again. please, make up your mind.

*Bows* I apologize for seeming 'all over the place'. I am happy to be placed at the 'rear of the cue'. I am curious as to the suitability of said character lay out. Thank you for your time and patience.

I'd be interested in playing. Got a human ranger and I've read the AP once.

Never doneplay by post before, though. Is that a problem?

Also if considered, would you allow Two Weapon Pounce (6) and Leap Attack on the build (from 3.5, PHB2). I'd keep the rest PF (and could change my build if you wish)

I could also do All PF cleric or Inquisitor of Gorum or HV of Imodae.

Actually there's a Cleric of Gorum from Standpoint already in Paizo's NPC guide. I could assume that char background or go with one of the other 2.

*Bows* Character is ready for final perusing and comments.

    Liberty's Edge

    Concept:

    Spoiler:
A kobold rogue with a dubious sense of personal property but a moderate fondness for his hometown. Little, sneaky, and no qualms about stabbing people who seem like a threat.

Okay, the following characters are in.

    Kano Kaijitsu
    Karlimein

When it's ready, Karlimein's brother will be joining as well.
