last night my group got into a fight with 3 bloody bones which have 4 tentacle attacks and 30 foot range. the tentacles can be sundered.
anyhow one problem arose.
one tentacle hit him at range and pulled him closer then next round he reversed the grapple cutting at the tendril with a dagger. but at that point I was not sure if the bloody bones still 10 feet away was grappled (with penalties) and when other tentacles hit do they test fir grab as normal? or just aid other the first tentacle.
it created a weird situation where the tentacles were seperatevdiacuszion creatures and I think I did it wrong. it confused more when he got next to the monster and wanted to stop grappling the tentacle. I let him since that made it less confusing but I think I did some of this wrong.

Unless a creature continues a grapple on their turn the grapple ends -- however if you have improved grab you can take your full attack at whatever number of opponents you want and grab each of them that you hit in turn. Since you can do this every round you can reapply the grapple condition each round.
A creature with grab can choose to take a -20 to its CMB to not gain the grappled condition when it grabs something.

right so when the first tendril hit both the bloody bones and the dwarf paladin got the grappled condition 20 feat away.
I added 2 to cmd for each tentacle that hit as they aided the first tentacle. but when he reversed I wasn't sure if they just all would aid the first one to reverse. or could the dwarf grapple 1 tentacle even as he was grappled?
the tentacles were just there to pull towards the bloody bones.
hrm let's try this....
round 1 bloody bones hits with 3 tentacles getting grapples, the paladin is pulled 5 feat closer so 25 feet away now.
on his turn the paladin reverses the grapple.
on round 2 how would the bloody bones attack sequence go?

Well we really need to start on round 1 still:
If you successfully grapple a creature that is not adjacent to you, move that creature to an adjacent open space (if no space is available, your grapple fails).
So the paladin is beside the bloody bones at the end of the grapple check. Also the bloody bones technically can't assist himself -- he can however make all his attacks on the paladin and attempt to grab with each one -- three checks means he is likely to succeed before the end of his attacks.
The paladin reverses the grapple.
Now the bloody bones has the following options:
If you are grappled, you can attempt to break the grapple as a standard action by making a combat maneuver check (DC equal to your opponent's CMD; this does not provoke an attack of opportunity) or Escape Artist check (with a DC equal to your opponent's CMD). If you succeed, you break the grapple and can act normally. Alternatively, if you succeed, you can become the grappler, grappling the other creature (meaning that the other creature cannot freely release the grapple without making a combat maneuver check, while you can). Instead of attempting to break or reverse the grapple, you can take any action that requires only one hand to perform, such as cast a spell or make an attack with a light or one-handed weapon against any creature within your reach, including the creature that is grappling you. See the grappled condition for additional details. If you are pinned, your actions are very limited. See the pinned condition in Conditions for additional details.
So the bloodly bones can either try to escape, try to become the grappler again, or perform any action that only requires one hand to perform (provided he meets all other needed criteria, like passing a concentration check to cast a spell while in a grapple, having the components in hand, and casting a spell that doesn't require somatic components).

I guess i'll try this
Round 1, Bloody Bones does 4 Tentaticle attacks against the paladin 25 fee away. 3 of the 3 Get a Grapple.
Are all 3 Grapples done as normal (Ie CMB vs CMD) or are the Aditional Grapples treated as Aid other (like if you had 3 goblins trying to Grapple somone)
It looks like then the moment they Get the grapple He is pulled 25 feet adjacent to the bloody Bones and the BB coud have Done both claw attacks. (i'll remember that)
Alright so the Paladin Reverses the Grapple as per my origonal Example
If the bloody Bones Hits him Do they basically just Counter Grapple him or provide a bonus to the BB's attempt to Escape or basically it appears Any of them Hiting would affectvly Grapple him Regardless of the Bloody Bones not bothering to Try to break Free.
Was my bit about having the Multiple Tentacles adding +2 per tentacle correct to CMD? I assumed it worke dlike An Aid to Grapple.
