Ultimate Magic does not appear to contain any new cantrips, yet the spellbook descriptions inside make reference to a number of them that supposedly are in Chapter 5 (breeze, drench, jolt, penumbra, root, and scoop).
There are also many 1st- or higher-level spells listed as being in these spellbooks with a single asterisk marking them as being in Chapter 5 that are missing like choose fate, comet, fantastic reach, hungry are the dead, hush, lightning field, madness, metabolize, pierce reality, rainbow helix, reinforcing bands, shadow blade, symbol of peace, thunderclap, transfer intelligence, and vitriol. I have looked in the Core Rulebook, Advanced Player's Guide, and Ultimate Magic (both print and pdf) and these spells are not listed anywhere.
Were a number of spells dropped and the spellbook descriptions never updated or were the spells renamed or something? For instance, while shadow blade is nowhere to be found, there is a 2nd-level spell called shadow weapon so it is likely referring to that spell.

Uhm so I know it's like 4 years later but the blanket There are no new spells thing doesn't fly for me. Does that mean that I should remove those spells from the spellbooks or they have been secreted from the internet somewhere or what? Vitriol and Madness at least there are no links to spell descriptions anywhere for anything.

Page 122: Book of the Grave, 3rd-level spells, the spell vitriol does not exist.
Noted for errata. It should be vitriolic mist.

Search this site for a blog called "Ultimate Cantrips" for information about the zero-level spells that were cut from the printed edition of Ultimate Magic. Officially, the errata to Ultimate Magic are supposed to have deleted all references to the spells listed in the first post in this thread.

I'm trying to build my crafty guy and he has loaded up on spell books. The errata shows some of the spells listed as having supposed to be other spells such as Vitriol is now Vitriolic Mist and a 4th level spell for Book of the Grave. At least as far as I could find. It's still up there on the PRD descriptions of things.
I'm looking for Madness did that change to Mad Hallucinations? I found 0 reference to it in errata. I'm sure there are others.

PRD actually in several places fails to update things fully. Usually it's re-wording of things that didn't go into the actual errata (as if the PRD people looked only at the errata and not the actual new manuscript for differences, not the same thing, more tends to get changed than what is written in errata), haven't heard of missing actual full out errata before, but *shrug*
Clearly, the process involves some dudes sitting there in an office manually going through re-typing out new changes individually, instead of there being a master document that is used both for PRD and for the printing press, and pasted in fresh for no errors.
So if you really want precise info absolutely for sure, you pretty much would need to buy the book editions. Failing that, reading the errata all yourself is the next closest to fully accurate. Failing that, I guess post to the forum like this and people who do own books or follow errata will tell you.

Comet could be refencing Cometfall from 3.5. Though that was 6th level.

That spell might need an errata though because the Area says 5th, but the spell description says 10 ft area.
