Experimental Thread: Wayfinder #6 discussion

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

On another thread pertaining to a Wayfinder forum?

Let me resurrect this thread.

I would love to have a section of these forms where we could discuss published articles as well as plan new ones.

Dear Mr. Humual,

Well Paizo remains as yet unconvinced as to the need for a whole forum for this, but for now, to see what happens, here is a thread for discussing stuff pertaining to Wayfinder #6. Imagine this as the latest Abyssal club, where article writers can hang out amongst sulphurous braziers swapping notes and hatching plots; of course it's possible that the atmosphere may prove too rarefied for mortals to handle in which case it will sink like a well weighted gangster slowly to the bottom of the forum with scarcely a 'glop', never to be seen again (or at least not until some 'well-meaning' law-enforcement type comes snooping in a couple of hundred years time).
Trusting that you have found this post Helpful.
Yours,

PS
I did consider naming this thread 'The Pit', as this is a common practice when naming such hot-spots where fearless exposers of Asmodean lies like to hang out; indeed it is to some extent echoed in beautifully chaotic fashion in your world in so far as I believe Paizo Publishing has a 'Pit' where their brains trust lurk.
However I considered this too confusing for a first-time thread. I would commend it as a possibility for a subsequent (perhaps longer term) thread.

As the succubus says, this thread is posted as an experiment to see if posters wanting to contribute to Wayfinder #6 find a place for discussion of things handy?

Ok, I'll bite- any thoughts from the Powers that be on the next theme? Gothic horror to tie into Carrion Crown? Tian Xa to tie into Jade Regent? Maybe something closer to home- Cheliax for instance?

The sentient ooze collective that lives in my skull wonders if we should allow Wayfinder 5 to finish hatching before counting our chickens?

Well, confirmation/rejection emails for Wayfinder #5 have been going out over the past day or so (as of the time of this post) and I gather it's on the way to the printers if not already there. At this point (bar shipping, distribution and possibly an expanded pdf) as far as I can understand it, Wayfinder #5 is done.
So, perhaps it's time for possible contributors to #6 (unless they're waiting on information pertaining to articles in #5 or yet-to-be-released Paizo products) to start pulling on their thinking caps...
Speculation... Hmm, well Timitius used the word 'cold', which suggests somewhere polar if it's staying on Golarion, an overall wintery theme, maybe, or perhaps a trip to the freezing parts of the outer spheres.
:-k

Can't help but think of Land of the Linnorm Kings and the Crown and the World given their large role in Jade Regent. But when are we going to do Tian Xia? Wayfinder #7?

[shameless speculation] In so far as the past couple of Wayfinders (#4 & #5) have loosely mirrored the regions visited by the current Adventure Path, #6 would have been (to me) a logical place to go to Tian Xia... However, the Jade Regent Adventure Path covers a lot of ground (it passes through at least three continents) and by the time submissions for #6 close (last year #4 stopped taking submissions at the end of October) there may not have been much time for information about Tian Xia to have been released, distributed to the public by download, mail or games stores, and to be digested by possible contributors.
Of course if there's interest from the readers in going to Tian Xia at some point with Wayfinder, and the editors are confident their contributors are likely sufficiently versed in the continent then who can tell?... Maybe if the adventure path next spring's going somewhere that Wayfinder's already covered, that might help. [/shameless speculation]

Hmm...an issue dedicated to the colder regions of the world--Land of the Linnorm Kings, Irrisen, Mammoth Lords, the Crown of the World-- would definitely be something to get the gears turning for me. Delving back into Norse & Finnish mythology for inspiration is always fun.

A trip to the cold north is always fun. For one thing, the terrain feels strangely familiar to me, but wasn't Lands of the Linnorm Kings and Irrisen the theme for #2?

I just checked the #2 thread, and whilst the opening post called for side-treks fitted to those specific regions (and to the Crown of the World), the general theme of Wayfinder #2 articles was supposed to be holidays. (I still remember reading the 'Crystalhue' article that resulted from that...)

Well, in that case. Time to go a-viking!!

Paizonians living in France or on the British Isles should consider themselved forewarned. ;)

Stats for giant, albino penguins?

Chase rules for aforementioned penguins vs shoggoths?

The shoggoths ought to be able to outdistance the penguins and escape with little trouble, unless it came to a swimming pursuit.

Oh, wait, you mean to say that you didn't know that such penguins are the predator species for shoggoths? ;)

Since 1066 when the Normans (essentially vikings with both ships AND cavalry) arrived in the UK and were absorbed into the population, we have been capable of holding our own.

However, good to see you feel inspired. :)

Hmmm, you may be onto something....Wayfinders lending support to the current AP? What a weirdo idea....

Timitius; what is the policy of resubmitting an articles?

Well, I am certain that you can, but....

If it was your second one (you submitted two, and I only chose one), then what you are telling me is that THIS time you are giving this one priority.

If I rejected it, I probably told you why. If it needed work, then I would expect it to be improved. If it didn't ride with our theme as well as another article, that was a reason, too.

I can also say that if you are resubmitting an article that fits in the Harrowed Lands, then it's not going to really fit in with the Lands of the Linnorm Kings. I am going to give a strong preference towards the theme for each issue. So, if you want to keep writing about vampires...you'll need to stick him in the themed region, and make it work. If you have a great article about Osirian...I'm thinking you may need to hold on to that one for a while.
