Archetypes
My 10 word or less description of the various archetypes:
Chirurgeon - Healing stuff in exchange for Poison Use
Clone Master - Wimpy bombs, Make clones and Simulacra, never die.
Internal Alchemist - Cool breath holding suspended animation stuff.
Mind Chemist - Cognatogens = Brain Mutagens. Plus some Knowledge Stuff.
Preservationist - Little animals in bottles (Summon Natures Ally). Pokemist? Alchemon?
Psychonaut - Diviner/ mind-walker Alchemist.
Reanimator - Braaaains! Yep... this is the zombie maker alchemist
Vivisectionist - Sneak attack... Preservationist
Anthropomorphic Animals WHAT?

It looks like some care was taken to make the Alchemist Archtypes compatible with each other where appropriate. The following is a list of all the valid permutations of the various archetypes.... I highlighted my favorites.

Thanks for sussing these out, 0gre. Big fan of your alchemist guide, btw - I started playing Pathfinder a few months ago, and was really drawn to the class. Your guides gave me a lot of great food for thought.

I'd be curious to hear a more extended version of your thoughts, if you happen to get the chance at some point.

I would also love to hear your take on the new alchemist changes, especially the Preservationist/Vivisectionist.

I have this crazy idea for a Ranger/Alchemist with a Anthropomorphic Wolf animal companion stewing around in my brain now.

Am I missing something or why wouldn't Mindchemist stack with the other archetypes? It only replaces poison use and mutagen.

A mindchemist/vivisectionist is a roguekiller. It's just...gah...what use is a rogue anymore?


Curious if you've looked at Bramble Brewer combos yet 0gre. I am helping one of my players assemble a Bramble Brewer/Chirurgeon/Internal Alchemist (a combo of his concepts and my suggestion of Chirurgeon).

Since the party has no primary healer, Chirurgeon was highly supported by me. From what I can tell it is a valid combo.

And poison resistance +6 is unaffected by the prior swap for the skill bonus heal?

No, since it is part of a progression (+2, +4, +6, immunity), that +6 becomes +4 (and "swift poison" becomes "poison use"). It's an obscure quote, but this is the relevant bit (UM p 14):
