Pathfinder Map folios...

Would absolutely love it if they came out with the first volume rather than the last as with Carrion Crown... We'll be thru most of the campaign before the folio is ready.

This has come up before. Unfortunately, it's not likely to ever work out that way. As some of the Paizonians have explained, the AP "modules" aren't written and turned in by the authors all at once. So, for example, while APs 1 and 2 might be complete (and already published), there is often a good deal of writing and tweaking going on affecting APs 5 and 6. This includes map updates, of course.

So, unless Paizo delays an entire AP 3-6 months (perish the thought!), there's no way to get a completed map foilio out when AP 1 is shipped.

Basically, the AP you should be playing is the LAST one, that way you get the map folio, the cards, and any supporting Chronicles or Companions all ready at the start. The CURRENT one is for the GM to read and prepare ("on deck", so to speak).

This is especially true when you consider how many of the non-adventure text in the APs is useful for earlier issues in the same AP. By playing the last fully-published AP you avoid this problem. It also gives you as a GM an better idea of where the AP is headed.

A hearty +1

Don't run APs until they're all the way out. Many reasons for this. Best reason: crib notes from the boards. Gotta wait for the community to create all that stuff first though!
