Open to the traveling band of merc's theme.....
Seems we could lose the people we want to lose after the temple is found, I mean if it is found!
Also might work fine, with us leaderless as it were, that everyone knows their role so well that it is assume...
Darkbiter and grusk first into deep/dark whatever, blaze and others first into towns, etc.....
I think we would work as a ronin group, without a leader.
The teamwork feat echoes this idea of learning to work as a unit.

While I could see temporary leaders a valuable idea, I feel it might be more fun having someone taking responsibility, perhaps a Corporal and a Sergeant. Either way a good leader will listen to those who know an area or task well and will appoint them to do what they do best, even taking their orders if they trust them correctly.
I volunteer Cort for leader, but won't be bothered if he is not chosen. I just feel like stepping up to leadership fits his redemption theme.
I'm fine with the retcon, and as for the tone, I like for it to be dark sometimes, but there should be moments of light or fun as well to balance these things out. I don't enjoy constantly drudging under crap with little brightness. Just to make sure we stay fun.

Darkbiter |

The idea of an overall leader fits with the overall theme. They don't have to run everything, that is what the power of delegation is for, but as a point of contact for others not in the squad it would be helpful. Cortland is as a good a choice as any for that role.

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

One thing I planned for Blaze was for him to become a leader either within the group or with out. Once my leadership system is put into place, he'd want a cohort, and possibly followers. While I haven't written it up yet, part of his backstory is he studied for a few years in Jalmeray, which is why he knows Vudrani.
If he were chosen as leader, he'd pretty much default to either Sentis, or Darkbiter while in the jungle. He has no clue about anything jungle like or even resembling the jungle, lol

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

yea, I screwed up bad. I had forgotten that the Scimitar isn't finesseable(how did nobody else catch that?? lol).
It should be +5, I think. +1 Fighter, +1 Str, +1 Weapon Focus, +1 Masterwork, +1 Trait(from Heirloom Weapon, which gives me the masterwork scimitar).
Next level, I get Dervish Dance, which will make it +9 to attack and +4 to Damage.
How did we all miss this??? lol gods we suck, LOL.

Ah, i misread that as Perfect Strike, which not only makes no sense for you, but clearly confused me. Its really late, I need to go to bed, lol.
I blame the whores.

Cortland Broadcloak |

I feel perfect strike would be an awesome feat. Should really be allowed to use with weapons and such. I mean, high requirements to avoid it being overused, but it'd be a nifty ability when you're playing a fighter (like Cortland) who's pretty much made not to miss. Even if he's blocked or just hits armor or such, by 4-5th level I'm not describing any misses as misses. Cort is meant to be a duelist, and a duelist is better than to just slash away from their enemy, so Perfect Strike could work with my fluff. That said... oh well... stupid Monk only abilities.

Cortland Broadcloak |

If you want to take Perfect Strike I would be happy to let you subbing out Weapon Focus for Imp Unarmed Strike as a req - and having it only work with the focused weapon.
Long ways off from 8th level at this point though :)
Thanks for the idea but I'd have had to build a bit more for it. I could never get the required WIS. Either way not a big deal, I've already planned myself pretty much into a corner, not much I would like to change now.

Cortland Broadcloak |

As I said, a Corporal and a Sergeant. Both of us seem to agree that we would defer to Sentis or Darkbiter in jungle matters, since neither of our characters know much of the area.
Let's say we have an OOC duel to see?
Initiative Check:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Oohhh, bet he beats that.

Memluk "Blaze" Seljuk |

yea, i got the exact same roll, 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15. which, as you'll note, is what my first attack roll was, not the first time i've seen this either, somebody in one of my other games did a test of this. If it keeps saving that roll, I'll never hit Cort, lol.

Cortland Broadcloak |

That's odd... maybe it's just bad luck and you keep just getting the same roll even randomly? If not maybe delete browser cookies or something. Anyway, on to my crippled ass kicking yours
Attack:1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Damage:1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Yay, roll max damage... on a miss. Stupid die roller.

Cortland Broadcloak |

woo... from winning to down in one smooth stroke. Hell of a duelist, sir. Hell of a duelist. Well, I suppose Cort will be a sergeant then. Ah well, I wasn't cut out to rule anyhow, I'll be the evil vizier :)
Anyway, stupid jungle with it's lack of decent duelists to level on. I'll look forward to us adding this to the IC thread. Don't expect Cort to let you be leader without some sparks lol.

Wouldn't have it any other way. Btw, I saw that Ultimate Combat will have some stuff for us duelists :)

DM - Voice of the Voiceless |

Poll Time
Malaria is a wasting disease that causes Str and Con damage. Bulu-bulu is a poison that deals Con damage. Put those two together and Cpl Valorious is in a pickle. There are three options:
1) He lives - but is very weak, and needs to be nursemaided back out of the jungle. Doesn't recover fully and you get internal promotion for Blaze.
2) He dies - and HQ chews your arse off when you get out, then promote Blaze after they realize how much money they (hopefully for you) made off the temple looting.
3) The dice decide - 50/50 each way.
Can I get squad votes on which they'd prefer?
