What epic characters would you like to see in a future supplement?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I was reading through the Inner Sea World Guide and it struck me how cool it would be for Paizo to give us a supplement detailing some Historical Epic NPCs in much a similar vein to the NPC guide. Obviously this could be done only when Paizo will release the epic play rules, but I think it would be neat to have an "Epic NPC Guide" to go along with that release.

So what epic historical characters would you like to see detailed? I'd like to see stats and description for:

-Nex
-Geb
-The Whispering Tyrant
-King Taargick
-Baba Yaga (golarion version)
-Arazni
-Aroden (before godhood)

Edit:of course such a supplement should also have some new epic NPCs, an Elf and an half orc for example

Paizo has taken a pretty clear stance on this sort of thing. They're leaving most of the statwork up to individual GMs so they can tailor each NPC to the needs of their campaign, so such a book seems unlikely at best. Still, it's nice to dream, so here's my two cents.

I can't recall his name, but RotRL seemed to imply that the Runelord of Sloth was a league above his compatriots. I'd like to get some stats on that guy.

And if the stats for dead dudes are on the table (such as Aroden) I'd like to toss Xin's name out there.

Dispater.

Razmir (I get the impression that he's just on the cusp of epic level).

Mengkare.

They did with the NPC guide though. Why not doing this when they release the epic level handbook? Note I wouldn't buy the book just for the stats, I'd buy it because of the backgrounds mostly, detailing some epic level characters with campaign ideas would be great imho.

The last issue of Kingmaker has stats for Choral in the "continuing the adventure" article.

Choral's still around? I didn't know that. Interesting.

I second the nod for getting stats for Razmir. I'm dying to know what his secret is. =)

Nex and Geb would be good, too. I've always assumed Baba Yaga is some powerful outsider (in the same vein as a demon prince or archdevil) with lots of levels of witch or wizard thrown in.

The only thing that's really preventing us from stating up some of the more powerful characters in Golarion like Tar-Baphon, Arazni, and Baba Yaga is the simple fact that we don't yet have rules for post-20th level play yet. Once (and if!) we get those rules, stats for some of these iconic epic characters won't be far behind.

While I must say I'm compelled to see what The Whispering Tyrant's statblock might look like, I would almost be sad to see it I think. Once it's down in print then players can start plotting against him. Granted, he's epic level and I don't plan on running anything past level 20, but still.

I point to the tarrasque as an example of what can happen when you put world-menacing monsters into statblocks. *grin*

I'm currently using the threat of a soon-to-be released jabberwock in my River Kingdoms (not Kingmaker) campaign, and I'd bet that some of my players have pored over the statblock and looked for ways they could kill it. I'd just bet!

What about that dreadful mummy-child in the Mwangi Expanse? Is he epic?

Statblocks can vary by GM. They can take a sneak peek at the statblock if they want, but they have no right to complain when what they fight is something entirely different. :)

As for Big T I would make him into my own personal version of Godzilla complete with magical ray from the mouth.

Well, it's all relative - if the world is mostly level 1 commoners, then the tarrasque pretty much is a world-ending event.

Give it levels in summoner. Not that that's what I did, of course ... just a suggestion :)

I'd prefer no stats for these mythic npcs, better to have it as a mystery

Certainly, individual DM's are welcome to modify anything they see fit when it pertains to their games. I personally love the flavor that epic monsters such as the jabberwock, tarrasque, etc. elicit, as well as epic villains like T-B. That's how I generally use them, too, is for campaign flavor, rather than as physical enemies.

My PC's won't be fighting the jabberwock in my campaign (at least not any time soon, they're only 6th level going on 7th). The threat of it being drawn forth from the First World is just flavor to motivate the heroes to act. If they fail, then it will mean a reboot of the campaign.

In the end, my PC's will face off against their own epic encounter. They will have to confront Orcus in his throne room. They will be level 20 at that point, though. Maybe I'll throw in the tarrasque along the way, or possibly the jabberwock. We'll see. /salute!

Well, I must admit I created my own version of Mengkare... I just copied Astarathian's stats, increased something here and there (like more magic res and more spells...) till I guessed he was a lvl 30 threat. THEN I added 20 levels of wizard. At that point I felt satisfied about him, although my campaign has lvl 2 players at the moment, so I very much doubt I will get to use Mengkare anytime soon, and as I didn't write him into the plot, I don't think it would be a good idea to introduce him (especially because there'a another big bad dragon moving behind the scenes already, but he's not nearly as powerful as Mengkare).

I would love a chance to bring down Mengkare.
