For anyone who used it in a game, did it work out well? I'm considering it for an upcoming game for a Master Chymist natural attack user, and thinking of replacing Bombs for this. The main reason for considering this is thematic, since this is someone who I'd like to be part artificer / part alchemist. He's also taking Craft Wonderous Items and the Homunculus discovery from this book.
Also, were any houserules necessary?

Obviously I'm biased, but it *did* work quite well in playtest. As I believe is mentioned in the document you may want a source of lots of cheap magic items so your total selection is broader at low levels. I've found the Loot 4 Less line works well (especially the volumes 2 and 3, followed by 4, 5 and 8, if you don't want to pick up 9 books) but, again, I'm biased. :)

I looked over the books just now, and the Rods one could be interesting (and also close to what I want out of the guy!), so I'm picking that one up. Maybe Rings too, if I like Rods!
Quick question though, did you intend for the Spagyric devices to use the market price of an item (i.e., Bracers of Armor +2 costing 4000gp) or use the cost that someone would pay if they were to make them themselves (Bracers of Armor +2 costing 2000gp)? Both make sense to me, since it's more balanced if it's market price, but makes more intuitive sense if it's the Do It Yourself price. My DM and I tentatively decided it was market price, but I'd love to hear some official wording.

You and your GM are correct, it's based on market price.

I wrote a review for the Rods. I really enjoyed the book, despite the small number of items. I'm not sure how I feel about the Rings book, but some of the ideas are quite cool. I definitely can see my non-casters buying a ring of dweomersight.
Side note: make a pdf based alchemy and constructs, and you've got at least one sale! :)
