Two new players required for existing RotRL PbP

Gamer Connection

Hi. I need 2 new players for my ROTRL game. Its still quite new (aprox 475 posts) but due to players dropping out I need to bolster the ranks.

PCs should be core rules or players guide and be 1st level (with a 500xp 'gift' of experience points.) Role playing is the mainn requirement and the rules are secondary. 20 point buy or 4d6 _choose best 3). Max money and hp.

Please post your ideas and check out AJs dads varisian campaign for an idea on style, existing characters, etc.

Thanks.

Hi,

Do you have a link to the story so far?

I'd like to try out some of the APG classes, before recommending them to my group. Maybe Magus or Oracle. Would they fit? If not, I'm open to filling whatever roles are left blank.

How often are posts expected? I'm usually here every day.

Thanks.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 2, 2) = 15 = 13
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6, 1) = 13 = 12
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 4) = 16 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (3, 5, 4, 5) = 17 = 14
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 4, 2) = 17 = 15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 4, 2, 1) = 11 = 10

I'd like to put my foot in the door for this one, I love ROTRL, and really want to play in it. Check out DM Barcas' Kingmaker New Beginnings for my posting style. I'll be plenty active as I'll be glued to a computer for the next while.

I'm thinking of playing a monk or druid, and will have a concept back to you in an hour or two.

The current characters are Ensu (gnome cleric of Nethys), Miss Mattie (halfling rogue), Ezren (Taldan wizard), Galstock (Shoanti barbarian) and Kendrick (human bard) yes?

Scarab Sages

Oops; I meant Inquisitor or Oracle, above.

Of those PCs listed above, which are dropping out?
Or are those the ones that will definitely be remaining?

[EDIT]: OK, checked it out, seems like the ones who've gone AWOL are the glaive-fighter, orc ranger, and Harsk, right?

And you're at a point where the goblins have been chased off, and the surviving strangers are being taken to see the mayor?

Lantern Lodge

Hi, I've been trying to get into some pbp games for a while can't really game much in rl due to full time school and work but I have had a concept worked out for a rise game for a while. I would like to play a chelaxian wizard, with the archetype from the inner sea primer, with the idea that he would be looking over varisia for relics from the thassalonian empire. Due to my being at work currently will do m best to post with him on this thread later tonight.

OK guys. I would love it if you three could join. DaWay, the Cheliaxan wizard would be great. Snorter, I think an inquisitor may fit in well. And vagrant, either the monk or druid are welcome. Let me have some concepts back asap. None of the current players are dropping out. I just want to bolster the party a bit and the current stage in the adventure is just the right spot to do this.

I try and post every day but I do understand when RL gets in the way. Like I said, I prefer good roleplay to rules lawyer style.

Look forward to hearing from you.

To anyone else, thanks but I now have enough new blood. Sorry

Hello, I would like to toss my hat into the ring.

I have 2 concepts I would like to try depending on what the group needs.

First is a Haunted Oracle of winds. The haunted defined as playful air spirits rather that the dead. This character will have been drawn to Sand point by persistent dreams of butterflies and blood flowing over stone.

The second is either an investigator rouge or a detective bard. This character would have been sent from Magimar by a trading cartel looking to expand into the area. The cartel is very interested in the glassworks. They are hoping to buy it or promote it's products among the elite of Magimar.

I look forward to joining you.

Arg! Ninja'd by the closing door!

Have fun all.

Daily I can do!

I'd actaully like to play a Varisian cavalier of the order of the dragon.

He will have lost his clan and taken to defending groups of travellers and bands of adventurers as a surrogate. I'll have a full profile up and running soon.

Daily is not a problem at all for me, I usually try to post in the morning and afternoon.

The cavalier concept seems good as well. Go with it.

Scarab Sages

Thanks!

I'll be open up front, that I have the issues (see Charter status, above), but I've been busy running Age of Worms for a while, so only skimmed them at the time they came out, except to pull info from the background articles. I'll try not to abuse any ooc knowledge.
One of the benefits of the Inquisitor, is that it gains in-character bonuses to Sense Motive and monster lore, so I can be as suspicious as I like, and not blurt out anything I shouldn't know.

IIRC, the area is remote and surrounded by woodland; I'm leaning toward a follower of Erastil, having the ability to act as a guide, and a reason to track the goblins back to their lair, for swift retribution.

This is my Chelaxian Wizard. I am still working on him but have got a lot of it planned in my head. Really, just expanding upon what I told you earlier. Still need to do equipment and backstory, as far as religion I am leaning towards Asmodeus though may end up just being a Diabolist. This is the first full spell caster I have done in my 21 years so please be patient as I try and go outside of my safe zone of monks and rogues.

Harlynn is looking good so far.

4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 5) = 18
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 3, 5) = 14
4d6 ⇒ (5, 2, 5, 4) = 16

Dropping lowest die gives scores of: 13, 11, 15, 17, 12, 14, which equates to 3+1+7+13+2+5=31 point buy.
High pb, but spread out; no obvious min-max scores.

I'll think of something with those scores.

Ok, this is all but the description. I can expand the backstory more if you like. (I am usually the type that will write about a 5 page backstory but this was on the fly though I think I captured the essence). If you decide to select him I imagine you could start him off with arguing with the coach driver for making him late to the swallowtail festival.

Greetings! I would like to put forward, for consideration, a bomb throwing, Cayden Cailean worshiping, cigar smoking, Chelaxian Alchemist by the name of Luca Da'Fiorre.

The third son of a wealthy Chelaxian family, heir to nothing, inheritor to even less, Luca learned, from an early age, that he was worthless to his parents. His brothers Alandro and Fredo had all the looks and charisma that he, Luca, could only ever dream of.

Having been gifted with neither a quick tongue, nor a pretty face, Luca spent his youth in quiet solitude, learning, growing in ways that his family would never understand. Being the son of a wealthy family opened doors for him, even if they were not the extravagant, gold plated doors of high society. On his 15th nameday Luca found himself shipped off and enrolled in a University of Higher Learning, much to his extreme pleasure.

His areas of study were extensive, from Anatomy to History, Literature to Music and everything in between. But it was the fine art of Alchemy that caught the young mans heart, especially the art of Incendiary Creation. Luca, in short, loved to blow things up.

His studies were cut short in his 18th year when, upon discovering a new component that increased the ferocity of his explosions, he accidentally destroyed two labs... and a Tavern.

Cast from the University, Luca returned home, there to once again suffer a minor set back, in the form of an exploding Stable. Trouble seemed to follow the young man like a bad smell. His Parents, sensing this, provided Luca with a healthy purse of gold and showed him the door, casting him out of his home to wander once again.

Four years passed and Luca finally managed to get a handle on his... accidental nature. Now restraining himself from causing any more collateral damage, Luca has taken to Adventuring, to get his fix.

EDIT - I did not see the note saying you had enough new blood, my apologies. I'll leave the concept here anyway, if you need another new character any time and liked Luca, please do let me know! :) Ciao!

Backstory seems fine to me. Love the reference to the Elder Gods as well.

I was going to bring the new characters in by having them each write a quick synopsis of how they arrive in Sandpoint and the explaining how they came to be at a meeting in the town hall with the mayor and sheriff (regarding the current Goblin threat to the town).

Thanks for taking the time. I will keep you under consideration.:)

Hi Aj's Dad.

I'm sorry for wasting your time, but I think I'll have to pass on this after all. I promised my friend I'd get into a PBP with him, and I don't have the time to join two new ones with my final year exams upcoming.

Better I bow out now, than waste your time in game.

Apologies,
-VP

Ignatio

You are back in! Let me have the pc concept and stats for Luca as soon as possible.

That gives us a wizard, an inquisitor, and an alchemist. hmmm, since I have just had a player drop out who was playing a rogue I would like to invite Poor Wandering One to play a rogue?

If hes busy I can take another player. We have a gnome cleric of Nethys, a Taldan wizard, a Shoanti barbarian and a human bard currently with the promise of the inquisitor, wizard and alchemist. Another fighter or rogue type would be good.

If you're still looking, I'd like to throw Tok, a Dwarven Monk, in for consideration.

I will gladly update his stats and background to reflect this particular path.

Thanks!

I'd certainly be interested in Tok. Please post his update if you would be so kind :) We have neither monk or dwarf at the moment.

Gladly. I've updated his stats to reflect this campaign and setup. I went with the 20-point buy; I had some truly TERRIBLE rolls.

I'm not familiar with where this adventure path goes, so if I need to adjust any of my skills, let me know.

Thanks for considering me!

I wouldn't mind playing a rogue, if you wouldn't mind me making one. Are we talking trap hunting rogue or silver tongued scoundrel?

Dementia Walker wrote:

Glad to have you. I think a silver tongued scoundrel will be good with a little trap skills thrown in.

No problem. I would like to bring your character in at the meeting with the mayor that is coming up. It concerns a problem with local goblins that have been plaguing Sandpoint. Perhaps Tok has replied to a posting for help in dealing with the problem.

Excellent! I'll go bookmark the thread and await my introduction.

One quick question: Could I, perchance, gain the ability to use a bladed scarf? I think it'd be a fun addition to my character's abilities. Apart from my fists, that'd be the only weapon I carried (or wore, I suppose).

It's not in line with the rules, so I completely understand if that doesn't work.

I have no problem with that at all. I'm not a stickler for rules when an idea might make for more fun and story potential.

Please feel free to ask any questions that you may have as to the current situation, although I am presuming that you will have read the adventure so far.

Excellent!

I wasn't actually going to read through the adventure up to this point, as my character would be coming in with no history or information to what has happened.

Should I alter that thinking and read through the old posts?

Also, when do you think you'll kick things back up?

No, its not realy necessary. It might add a bit, the fact that you are coming in fresh.

The PCs are on there way to the town hall now so I will be introducing you then. Probably tomorrow. The meeting will be in an upstairs room and Tok will be there, having already been summoned to the meeting, but no wiser as to what its about than the other characters.

Liberty's Edge

Hell, there's a lot of avatars these days!

This is as close as I'll get so far, though it should probably be younger.

Tregar is a woodsman, with a hatred of goblins and their destructive ways.
He's annoyed that he missed the action, but wants to make up for it by forming a posse, to hunt for their lair.

Lke the concept. Please post his profile so i can check him out. Thanks.

Liberty's Edge

Will do.

I'm updating the profile in stages as I go, around my chores.
Are we using traits?

And does anyone know if you can alter the name of spoilers, to what they contain?

to alter spoilers put spoiler=NAME in [ ]

I too am putting the finishing touches on my rogue for the group should have it finished at some point today. (this is dementia walker)

Update: all I need now is to put in a background and equipment. could you inform me as to where the campaign takes place or background information for me to go on so that I can make this fit in with your game concept?

Thanks; that was driving me nuts.

All done except equipment. Main items bought (weapons and armour), but that still leaves about 100gp for sundries.

The campaign is set on the western coast of Varisia (the top left of the big Inner Sea map, see Wiki).

Awesome, thanks I will finish up my equipment and background now. Would you happen to have a link to the PbP?

Update: Alright I have basic equipment, nothing flashy and a basic background in. I was thinking of putting in that I had been caught stealing and the next mission would be my community service or somthing but I dont know enough about the campaign yet.

Scarab Sages

The game is here.

And the PbP intro, and ooc discussion is here.

Thanks

That idea would work great!

De Way, Snorter and Dementia. I'm going to fed you into the game shortly. Feel free to join in after that.

I will add that into my background then.
