Hello, a friend and I are both looking to find an online Pathfinder game preferably using a VTT (such as maptools) as well as voice chat. Neither of us have experience with Pathfinder, but have played several rpgs including Star Wars Saga, Dnd 4E, as well as some Dnd 3.0.
We are located in central time and would prefer a game on Sunday or Tuesday nights but could be more flexible in this regard. What has drawn us to Pathfinder is a slight disappointment with Wizards published 4E modules, and we would relish the opportunity to test out Paizo's "famed" adventure paths.
Neither of us are power gamers, but we do put time and thought into our characters abilities as well as their personalities. We are both very committed to showing up on time and the like. As I become more experienced with the system, i would potentially DM a game in the future with an opening for whoever would step up and DM for us.
Thanks,

I'd be interested in trying something like this. I'd be available Tuesday nights after midnight, CST timezone. I realize that might be a little late for your liking though, so I'll keep track of this thread and see who else shows up. :)

I'm interested as well. I was going to GM Carrion Crown via maptools recently but RL issues came up. Tuesday nights 6-11 pm eastern works well for me. RL stuff is still in the picture but I can definitely make it as a player, GM is tougher as I'm not sure I can devote all the prep time.
Fridays are good too btw, even a later end time.

I would be interested in trying a VTT game as well; I've been wanting to find an opportunity to learn how to utilize MapTool, so that I can eventually run my own game using the software. Unfortunately, openings for such games are rarer than PbP AP games; once a VTT group forms up, they rarely have need to seek out additional players.
Eventually I may just have to take the plunge, and find a group of players willing to put up with a GM that's learning how to use the program. But I'm not ready for that yet.

My group is local and we usually play in person. However, several have moved away and we're considering somethign like this to re-incorporate the ones who moved away. Though we're still figuring out what technology to use.
I'd be interested in playing this kind of game with strangers, as my group only plays once a month. Also it would help me with my current group's tech needs.

Like I said, if the only barrier is the Maptool learning curve, I could probably sit down with you and show you how to set everything up in 30 minutes. It is supremely easy if you have someone show you the steps. Don't get me wrong, there is some extremely difficult things that you can do with maptools, such as using vision to auto-revel for each player so the player can only see what their token can see. While really cool, that is a ton of work, but if you want to learn how to use maptools to emulate a tabletop, then the learning curve is extremely small.

Meh, give me till the end of the weekend to decide if I can devote the time to GM. I have basic skills with maptools, enough to get by. The hardest thing to learn when hosting on maptools is opening port 51234 (players connecting don't have to do this).
My RL group has disbanded after 20+ years, itching to get back into it.

I'm glad to hear things have settled down for you a bit over the past month. That said, don't force yourself to run a game if you've got too much on your plate; as we mentioned then, real life comes first, and I imagine everyone in this thread would agree with that sentiment.

Hmm, well I still haven't had anyone step up as a Dm, which I completely understand. This DM'ing thing can be a significant amount of work after all. Therefore to further entice the masses, I would offer up a DM'ing swap. Perhaps someone could run the first part of an Adventure Path (thus giving me some time to become acclimated to pathfinder rules)and then I would subsequently run the first part of a separate adventure path. We could then continue to switch off until completion.
Thus, the group would get to play in two of Paizo's great APs and both DM's would get a chance to play. Obviously there are some flaws in this style of play, but I believe they could be carefully navigated.
Once again, I would be primarily interested in Tuesday or Thursday nights with Sunday being a possibility. The game times could run between 6:30 p.m to close to 12 p.m. central standard time.

Wellll, since my other online RPGs have all died in their infancy, I figure I could step up and offer my services. However I could only do Sundays. I do have experience DMing online games though, and try to make my games as fun as possible.
Oh, and if I am DM, make sure somebody cooperative takes perception. Its a long story.

If you guys are still looking for players I have been trying to get into an online pathfinder game since i picked up the CR/APG about a month ago with no luck. I am CST, any weekday evenings and most any time weekends works fine for me.
I used to play Ad&d/3.5e some years back by IRC, but I'm nearly a decade out of practice. No experience with VTT software, but I pick that sort of thing up quick.
So if you've got a spot and you don't mind a bit of early hand-holding, let me know.

I hope it's alright to jump into this thread... if not, please let me know and I will gladly remove my post.
In any case, I'm also very interested in trying out a VTT group as a player. I'm reasonably familiar with Pathfinder, have a little experience with MapTool (I may need to occasionally take ten, fifteen seconds to look up a rule in PF or a feature in MapTool, but this should be rare), and type pretty fast. I don't have any real way of participating in voice chat, but I can definitely LISTEN in on voice, and my typing speed is almost as fast as most people speak so it shouldn't be a hindrance.
My schedule is generally open any weekday or weekend that I have enough advance notice to adjust things (24 hours notice is usually enough), though any time after 6 PM EST is best for me.
Please let me know if you have any questions (specific level of PF experience, types of characters I generally build, etc.) and I'll be glad to answer them!

OK, since something is probably holding up bb2dgree, I shall give a short summary of what we've worked out:
-Our sessions will be on sundays, starting not this sunday (the 8th) but the next one (the 15th) from 6-12 CST.
-we will be using Skype and likely MapTools to play the game.
-bb2dgree and I will be running two adventure paths and switching off between them. He will be running Serpent's skull, I will be running Rise of the Runelords (Or another one if players demand it). We will be starting with my campaign and switching every module.
-Character creation for the first campaign will be based on 20-pt. Point buy. Anything from Core or APG is fine. All latest playtests and other Paizo materials must be declared before being taken (so that I know what source you are getting it from). Anything else must be OK'ed by me PERSONALLY before being taken. Also, it is STRONGLY PREFERRED that you take a campaign trait from the Adventure Path. You will need a decent character background before the campaign starts. That being said, this is only for my campaign, bb2dgree might do something else for Serpents Skull.
-We will be recruiting 3-4 more players, determined by however we decide to choose if this fills up to more than 4 people.
-If you need to contact me, please either contact me via skype (Mine is acecipher1 ) or go onto the dmtools chat ( http://chat.dmtools.org/ ) where I am :dragon: dac. I will also periodically check this thread. Skype is the most likely way to get ahold of me urgently.
With that said, I look forward to playing with all of you.

I'm afraid I won't be able to join you. I've read Rise of the Runelords, and am a module and a half into Serpent's Skull. Still, I wish you the best, and I'll continue to keep my eyes open for another game.
....As I put in the post, I am amiable to running something else, AND I am going to switch things up enough so that it wouldn't matter anyways.

By the number of posts here already it looks like you may have all the players you need but I'm posting my interest anyways, just in case. Sundays would be ideal for me. Crossing fingers.
OK. That actually might fill it up, but I won't select the final people until I see their character sheets, since I have had issues with player background before.
also bb2dgree will be a monk, and another player who contacted me either wants to play a ranger/rogue or a paladin.

Today I read in Faiths of Purity that monks, inquisitors, and paladins respect but don't really follow Desna (due to her chaotic nature it seems). Not a huge deal as far messing with my character concept but still...a nagging detail in the back of my mind. So I made a new character, an oracle, which may be better anyways as he has some more healing power than the first. Lemme know if this one is ok.

First I've heard of this. I use alignment like that far more liberally than some GMs, but there is precedent for not strictly following that (IE Pallys of Asmodeus) but there is precedence for the opposite (Cayden Cailean disbarring Paladins from any powers). I'll let you decide since I haven't read Faiths of Purity yet. Go with what you want.

acecipher wrote:Alright, now that I've had some time, Chardok the Barbarian is fine, and Silder is approved. I would approve of Kynder but his skills are very hard to understand. That's ok. I would prefer to go with Silder.
OK, then slider it is.
Outlandos, please do contact me on skype (acecipher1), since that is mainly how we will be communicating.
Mathwei ap Niall, if you want in, then please prepare a character sheet by Sunday, and be ready to play (and have me added on skype too).
VonGonda,I never recieved your message, so I don't know what to say really.

Could someone clarify if this game was postponed until the 22nd, changed to a different time/day, or is simply not happening? Thanks.
Far as I know it was supposed to happen today, but acecipher wasn't online. Not sure if something happened or he forgot or what. Going to assume it's postponed until next sunday unless he comes around and tells us different.
| acecipher |
Yeah... sorry about that, I was unable to be online, since I had been selected for Vigil at my OA's potlatch. If you don't understand what that means, that's OK, just understand it is not something to pass up. Next sunday, however, should be much better, and I should be under much less stress following the completion of several midterms this week.

Guys, there is one spot open. It is my spot; I have to drop out like a filthy loser. So feelthy. Still a few days to go so plenty of time to fill this spot. I do wish you all the best!
Sad to hear you have to leave. That actually makes two spots but that's fine. I might have a friend who can fill it.
In other news, I actually am up for running everything today at the appointed time, so hopefully everyone will be free and online for it.
