Best place to start a gladiator campaign?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hello all,

I'm new to pathfinder but my gaming group wants me to run a pathfinder campaign. I have no problem with this, except where to start.

They really want to do a "spartacus" type of campaign. But with so much stuff to dig into, I'm unsure where and how to start!

I'm hoping the good folks here can direct me to the best region or city within the world that a slave/gladiator campaign could start. At least that way I can dive right into planning the main back story and then worry about what and where they are going, if they manage to free themselves from their chains.

I appreciate any help, and look forward to continuing on my pathfinder journey.

You might start here: Tymon

There's a nation in the River Kingdoms called Tymon that is basically a city of gladiators, so that is the first place I would look. There is a four page spread on this city-state in the Pathfinder Chronicles Guide to the River Kingdoms, which is probably the most in-depth information you'll find. The Pathfinder Journal in Pathfinder #35 also features a short story set in Tymon, which might provide a few more details.

That'd get my vote, too. Though if you're starting at a higher level, try Greenblood in the Sodden Lands. The Inner Sea World Guide gives it the distinction of the most savage gladiator pit in Golarion, rising out of the middle of a harbor full of pirates, no less.

Thanks. I'm certainly going to start my "fact finding" mission there. Much appreciated.
