Adventure big books

Will paizo be releasing trade hard backs of campaign collections, like the book for shackled city? A hard back that contained everything to run that campaign would be awesome.

We don't have any current plans to release our Adventure Paths in a hardcover format.

Yeah—like I've said, the "no reprints" rule doesn't apply to everything... and "reinvention" is also possible. So long as it's done in a way that is as appealing as a completely new product, and doesn't train people to always wait for the reinvention.

* Make a new line of collections of articles for people who aren't necessarily interested in running a particular AP -- but only for stuff over two years old, and only in PDF (so that printing costs aren't an issue). So, we could have "Rise of the Runelords: The Articles," "Curse of the Crimson Throne: The Articles," "Second Darkness: The Articles," and "Legacy of Fire: The Articles." However, "Council of Thieves: The Articles" wouldn't be an option yet, because it's too soon.

* Not-so-coincidentally, my suggestion happens to only cover the OGL stuff. You could also upgrade them all in collections as "Rise of the Runelords: The Adventures (PFRPG)," etc., likewise limited to PDF to reduce the up-front costs, and with the content already all paid for.

I have no way of measuring, but I assume that there would be some price point where a discount for a collection of an old AP would be better than the sales drop-off for later volumes in the AP. Of course, as you mentioned in that thread, you have to be wary of the expectations that you set. So, I get that it's complicated. Good luck!

Actually the content wouldn't all be done - there would be the development work of converting everything, then an editing pass over that, plus layout of the new book, creating a new introduction. And that' just with a basic run over to convert to PFRPG core, without wanting to change things drastically to include the like of the APG (I can think of a couple of characters that would do well as Alchemists, and there's probably other stuff that could be converted). All in all, there would be significant stuff to be done.

I'm disappointed to see that there are no plans for adventure path collections. As they're currently priced, buying any of the older paths in a single go is grossly expensive.

Would you buy a current AP knowing that a discounted collection is going to happen sometime later?

I buy hardcover novels knowing that a mass market version is due out a few months later. I understand Paizo's reasoning behind not wanting to do it. I have no real problem with it. I'm just disappointed that it's going that route.

Realistically, it's been several years since the first AP was released. I can't even buy a print copy from Paizo if I wanted to, since half of Runelords is currently out of print. I'd have to settle for a PDF, which I won't buy.

There's been a LOT of requests for a Rise of the Runelords hardcover compilation. We ARE sold out of many parts of that AP. It WOULD be cool to update it to the current rules system.

Just because we say we have no plans at this time to do that doesn't mean we'll NEVER do that.

I would buy a hardcover of the Kingmaker Campaign (I own all the RoTRL already).

Is it worth taking advance orders? and when you hit a print run that is viable then printing on demand?

You could collect a down payment or even just get a register of interest keeping track of people interested.

My guess, and I could be wrong, is that the non-Pathfinder RPG APs are much more likely to get the "hardcover all in one" treatment than anything that came out under the new rules.

I've already got Rise of the Runelords, but I would probably get a hardcover, Pathfinder RPG version of the campaign, even if it was fairly expensive in one volume.

Our decision to not reprint APs as a matter of course is not about a lack of demand. It's about not killing the monthly AP line that keeps us in business. Please read the thread I linked to in the third post for more on that.
