Replacing the Bog striders

Okay, so the bog striders are not my cup of tea. Does anyone have any suggestions for replacements?

How about Grippli?

Frogmen vs. Toadmen would be interesting thematically.

Or if you want to introduce some psionics into your campaign. Perhaps Dromites - that way you still have the insectile feel without using the bog-striders?

Yeah, let's stick every kind of weirdo race we can think of out there. The Grippli in the Bestiary 2 might work, they're froggy. Or Elves on stilts.

Right, so i am going to strip out the encounter and put in an encounter in the drowned trees instead I think.

Oh, that is perfect, yes! As I am trying to limit pair back the 'DnDism' to a more realistic fantasy anything. Undine fit into the paradigm I am aiming for, far more smoothly, that is perfect.

Wow - do I know what you mean! I built my own encounter tables with quite

a limited set of creatures - mostly so that there is a coherence to the
world my PCs are travelling in. There aren't any orcs, hobgoblins or a
variety of the other standards. Nor are there any of the usual feakazoid
monsters which we've come to know in DnD...
