Getting rid of (x new)

Is there a way to be "uninterested" in a thread once you've looked at it?

I've noticed that threads I haven't looked at in a long time will eventually lose the "x new" (some times they even lose the dot).

If you don't mind losing all "x new"'s and dots, you can delete the cookies for the site.

Wouldn't really help with stuff I want to look at :/ Then I'd have to go through and find them all again... if they expire, I guess I can be patient..

It's not stored in your cookies, but it does expire. I'm not sure of the exact time—Gary would know—but I think it's just a few days for the (x new); longer for the dots.

Under periods of high load the x new and dots won't show up the first time you load the messageboards pages. They should come back eventually though.
