Monk of the Empty Hand and Weapon Proficiencies

Greetings!

Can a Monk with the Empty Hand archetype gain weapon proficiencies by multiclassing? The archetype states, "Monks of the empty hand
are proficient with the shuriken only. A monk of the empty hand treats
normal weapons as improvised weapons with the following equivalencies. . .
."

So, can a multiclass Monk/Rogue with the Empty Hand archetype use Rogue weapons normally? If so, are they still considered improvised weapons? What is the relationship (if any) between weapon proficiencies and improvised weapons?

Thanks!

If you multiclass, you gain all proficiencies your new class grants if you don't have them already. So a MotEH/Rogue would be proficient with their fists, shuruken, and rogue weapons. However, you can only flurry with improvised weapons and unarmed strikes (not even shuriken).

Weapons used normally would not be considered improvised. You can always use a regular weapon in an improvised manner, but then it counts as an improvised weapon for all purposes (damage, crit range, etc) and doesn't gain any benefits of magical enchantment on the weapon.

Small correction: You can use shurikens in a flurry. But it requires you to treat them as an improvised weapon..

True, but then you may as well be throwing rocks. They're cheaper.
