Favored Terrain

Rules Questions

If your FT is desert, can you walk in the desert at normal speed, or do you suffer the same issues as any other character?

What issues do you think it would resolve? Reducing the effect of difficult terrain or enhancing overland movement are not among the listed effects of favored terrain.

True - if the game or a particular adventure provides a way to use Survival, Knowledge (geography), Perception or Stealth to move more easily, Favored Terrain benefits that skill check. It doesn't help with Acrobatics checks, such as the check to run or charge on the steep side of a sand dune.
