Modules suggestions for E8 campaign

Advice

I'm planning on starting an E8 pathfinder campaign in the next couple of months and I need suggestions for some lower level published adventures to include. Most of the main "story arc" adventures I'll be designing myself, but to cut down on the prep work, I want to include some stand alone modules. Aside from a few adventures out of Dungeon magazine, I've only run my own, so I don't really have the foggiest idea what's out there.

If you guys and gals could list a few modules you've run in the past that you would recommend, it would be very much appreciated. Here's what I'm looking for:

- Between levels 2-8
- In a setting that can easily be inserted into a homebrew world. I don't mind changing a few details, but something that's heavily tied to a particular setting won't work.
- Something that isn't part of a longer AP or multi-part adventure.
- Since it's E8, not a lot of NPCs with over 8 class levels. I can make adjustments to a few, if need be, but I'd rather not have to convert every NPC in the book to 8th + X number of feats.
- Paizo and 3PP are both fine, as is any old 3.5 that's been converted to PF already.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Any idea for the type of setting or campaign you wanted to run? Knowing whether you prefer urban, rural exploration, or dungeon delve would help me make my recommendations.

Meh, I'll go ahead and add some suggestions preemptively. If you can specify what you're looking for, I'll add some more later.

Crypt of the Everflame (Paizo Publishing): Although this can be used as the first piece of a trilogy of modules, it works perfectly well on its own and it's a great way to get a group together and adventuring. I ran this to introduce my players to Pathfinder and we had a great time. This is generic enough to be dropped into any campaign setting with little to no modification.

Carrion Hill (Paizo Publishing): This is a level 5 standalone module with an H.P. Lovecraft bent. It's a really great investigation/horror module, and though I haven't had the chance to run it, I've been drooling over the chance ever since I flipped through it in the gaming store. This one is also pretty generic and should work in just about any setting with minimal effort.

Curse of the Riven Sky (Paizo Publishing): Meant for a 10th level party, this might be pushing the boundaries of what E8 characters can accomplish, but eventually they should be able to handle it. It would definitely be end-game material for an E8 campaign, but I think it could succeed strongly in that role. I really love this module, it just bleeds epic rural adventure.

The description on Paizo's store doesn't even do Curse of the Riven Sky justice- it features quarreling Giants, cyclops, trolls, an ettin, a dragon, giant animals (dire bear, rocs, wolves), a trek through hostile Viking-themed mountains...all written by Monte Cook. I really, really love this adventure, and will probably try to use it as the last adventure in a campaign if I ever use E8.

Good point. Actually, I don't have a preference. It's mostly for campaign world depth. I don't want everything tied to the main "plot", so anything is fine. All of the above, I guess. As a group, my players and I like a healthy mix of adventure styles.

The campaign setting/theme is going to be very sandboxy, heavy on the exploration. The PCs are going to start at 2nd level as a group of soldiers cut off from their empire back home. Stranded in a new land, they'll have to carve out a place for themselves, all while piecing together clues and such tied to the main storyline.

It's not low magic, per se, but it is E8. Gritty and dangerous is what I'm shooting for.

Thanks again in advance.

Curse of the Riven Sky sounds great! I'll definitely look into that for the end game. Since I'll have the party already together, I don't need a Crypt of the Everflame type adventure. Not that you knew that when you posted it.... I was slow replying. I love Lovecraft feeling adventures and his work is a big influence in the campaign I'm wrapping up right now. In fact, I used Dungeon's The King in Yellow as a stand alone that tied into the campiagn very well. I'll check out Carrion Hill right away.

Thanks wonko!

Curse of the Riven Sky is awesome. The giants offer great combats, the entire setting feels just like a end to a great trilogy movie (but with more "Oh my God!" moments. And to make it a memorable piece there is a climax that will probably not end in d20's shaking across the table, but revelations to the characters in this story that will shake their foundations to the core.

OK, two glowing recommendations for Riven Sky, plus good feedback on the product reviews. Now it's a must have. Anything else?

The Tomb of Abysthor is a module from Necromancer Games that is excellent. 2nd-8th level characters. Big dungeon crawl in a generic world that can easily be modified.

Only thing is, you'd have to update to PF/3.5 (as it's 3.0). But it's still really great, old-school feel.

Thanks, RedSummerSun. I'll check it out. Is it big enough to have as a recurring dungeon? A place the PCs can come and go from?
