Just a quick clarifying question.
Suppose you're a Rogue 3/Wizard 3/Arcane Trickster 5 and you choose Extra Rogue Talent as your 11th level feat. Are you limited to the basic Rogue Talents or can you choose Advanced Rogue Talents since you're now above 10th level? Also, do you have to have 10 levels of rogue to use the feat to take Advanced Talents?
I only ask because Advanced Talent is a separate ability listed under Rogues, even though it uses the same mechanic.
Advanced Talents:
At 10th level, and every two levels thereafter, a rogue can choose one of the following advanced talents in place of a rogue talent.
Extra Rogue Talent
Through constant practice, you have learned how to perform a special trick.
Prerequisite: Rogue talent class feature.
Benefit: You gain one additional rogue talent. You must meet all of the prerequisites for this rogue talent.
Special: You can gain Extra Rogue Talent multiple times.
Opinions? Thanks.

My interpretation would be that a rogue with access to advanced talents normally could use this feat to get advanced talents since they're taken in place of a rogue talent. However, without the appropriate number of rogue levels to otherwise qualify for advanced talents, a multi-classed rogue couldn't use this to take advanced talents.
Basically, level 10 and above rogues can substitute an advanced talent for a rogue talent.

And someone with the Extra Rogue Talent feat can take a rogue talent.

In other words a character needs 10 rogue levels to get an Advanced Talent, whether it's from taking it as a new class ability or via the feat.
That's how I'd handle it anyway.

This is basically what I meant. Rereading, I wasn't as clear as I could have been.

So your a
Rogue 3
Wizard 3
Arcane Trickster 5
........
Arcane Trickster does not give you Rogue Talents, so only the Sneak Attack will stacks with rogue. (Sneak Attack 4d6 total, = 2d6 from rogue and 2d6 from Arcane Trickster).
So you only have 1 Rogue talent at 2nd level.
Your 3rd level.
You would need to get another level in rogue to get to 4th level Rogue to get another rogue Talent = Even then you can only select a talent that a 4th level rogue has access to.

That's how I read it. Effectively, the Advanced Rogue Talent class feature that Rogue 10 gains adds a list of new Rogue Talents that the Rogue may select.
Kinda like how a Paladin's list of selectable Mercies expands every 3 levels.
