Hello all,
I have a few questions on Mistmail.
1) When you activate does the armor disappear…ie do you lose the armor bonus to your AC?
2) When you are using the mist, are you the only one who gets the concealment or would a bad guy you are fighting next to you get it as well?
3) Would you be able to keep adding +1 to it? (assuming you have enough prestige to buy the item)
Thanks,
Balsa

Hello all,
I have a few questions on Mistmail.

Well, since the armor states this:
"If the character tries to don another suit of armor while the mistmail is in fog form, it reforms at the character's feet."I would say that the answer to (1) is that the armor does disappear.
For question (2) and (3) I am not sure. For (3), I know that you can, in theory, craft more +'s onto armor, but with your reference to "prestige" I can guess that this is for a PFS game.

1) Since Mistmail is "transformed into thick fog" the solid chainshirt isn't there anymore, therefore no more armor bonus.
2) I guess you're suggesting that peering out of fog is a much a hindrance as peering into it? Fog spells are handled the same "symmetrical" way, so that seems reasonable.
3) I don't see a reason (beyond the usual "no more than +5/+10") not to.
If point 2) is actually handled that way, mistmail becomes rather uninteresting for use in sneak attacks, but is still a nice "hide in plain sight" tool.
Edit: "prestige", righty-oh, Happler. In that case, I got no idea how this in handled in PFS as well.

Well, it's always a great idea to be checking rules AFTER posting, my bad.
Anyway, RAW states: "When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has concealment if his space is entirely within an effect that grants concealment."
Since it doesn't say anything about your own space, the hypthetical bad guy from 2) doesn't get concealment via your mistmail.

So you get 20% chance not to even be hit, but give up 5 AC while doing so? I guess that is why it is not very expensive...its not that great.
The mist effect is definitely not meant as a general armor replacement/enhancement. As I said above, since you often need cencealment or cover to use stealth the armor can help with that. You're save from sneak attacks, so you might want to use it when you think a rogue was around. Creative players will find other uses.
