Howdy! I am playing a cavalier, currently 3rd level, who, at 7th level, is going into Hellknight. The question I have is simple enough. Hellknights get a suit of armor that, when matched to their order, gives them bonuses. I alredy know what order I am going into, and that is the Pyre. My question: Do I have to wait untill I take a level of Hellknight in order to purchase the armor, or may I do so now, as a cavalier? I understand that the armor in question costs extra, and I don't see the point in buying an item worth 1500 gold now, just so I can buy it again at 2k later. Or, would it be possible to pay the 500gp difference when I get to Hellknight? I don't think that would work, as that would be similar to making an item masterwork after you alredy bought it.

The cavalier already has an order, so how would this work, having a cavalier and a knight order? If the cavalier changes orders, he changes his challenges, i think we need an order of knights who are reordering the knighthood order supplement.
They don't function as the same class ability. There are other class features in the game that share names as well.
For example: Hide in Plain Sight.
Shadowdancer and Ranger have similar abilites named the same thing. however, they ARE different. If you take it from the percpective of the ranger only, you could say the shadowdancer is declaring Shadows as their favored terrain. However, it is part of the ability, in and of itself, and not the exact same thing, as the ranger's favored terrain ability.

Another example is that there are multiple traits called Brute.
Brute (Half-Orc, Orc)P
Source Orcs of Golarion 23
You are an especially large and hulking individual, and when you strike, you aim to deliver the maximum amount of pain. Whenever you score a critical threat, you add (but not multiply, in the case of a confirmed critical hit) an amount of damage equal to your weapon’s critical modifier.
and
Brute (Half-Orc)P
Source Taldor: Echoes of Glory 14
You have spent long hours working for a crime lord, either as a low-level enforcer or as a guard or bouncer. You’re adept at frightening away people and gain a +2 trait bonus on Intimidate checks.

And of course it is impossible to be a Republican and a Christian. :)
Some orders or groups will play well together... others will not. They are mostly RP based with some mechanical benefits. It is up to the player and his DM to decide if you can have two groups exist at the same time or not.
My cavalier is Order of the Lion. With the House Dralneen (Paracountess Zarta Dralneen, leader of Cheliax) as his Lord. :)

If you are already a member of the Order of the Pyre, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to get proper Hellknight armor created for you for the full 2000 gp. Many Hellknights don't take the prestige class, and they still use their order's specific armor.
However, I would not allow you to buy regular full plate now and then pay the difference to get it refitted into Hellknight armor, since the armor has to be created according to exact specifications and style.

Well, his parrents were hellknights (The trait Hellknight Ancestry), he is a worshipper of Asmodeus (Demon Hunter of Asmodeus trait), his home IS citadel Krane... really, the only thing that makes him not a hellknight yet is that he doesn't have levels in it, as his BAB isn't high enough atm...

Yep yep... Totally expected that one!
