Comics

Hey all. I am looking for some new stuff to read, and I was hoping you could make some suggestions.

My tastes run along the lines of sandman, transmetropolitan, the invisibles, preacher, hellblazer, global frequency and DMZ.

Read Girls, Y The Last Man, and Welcome to Tranquility.

Dark Archive

Not sure what there is that would fit what you like. If you are willing to take a risk on trying a new genre, the Dungeons & Dragons comic is really good. FreakAngels is a good webcomic by Warren Ellis.

Edit: When I drop by my FLG/CS tomorrow I will ask for some recomendations.

Dark Archive

Hellboy by Mike Mignola and its spin offs (BPRD foremost) are really really good.

I love Artesia by Mark Smylie, set in a fantasy world which features the best elements from myth-based epic, low magic, brutal warfare and political intrigue.

i second freakangels (online here)

i'm not familiar with the titles you list, but two more that i whole-heartedly recommend are "fables" and "ex machina"

This plus Moore's Neonomicon(adult for sure), Northlanders, The Unwritten, and Scalped. I have liked several of the things Moore and Ennis have developed for Avatar press, YMMV. I would also reccomend Bill Willingham's Fables novel: Peter and Max. As well as his Elementals series work from the late 80's-90's

I know and love Artesia, and love the rpg too. But the absence of new material is starting to annoy me.

Freak angels is awesome, but i prefer it in bookform to web comic.

I know hellboy, unwritten, Y, and fable but I haven't had chance to get into them.

I'll check the rest out. Keep the ideas coming. Especially stuff in the spirit of the invisibles.

I forgot

Joe Hill's Locke and Key so far 3 connected series, really well written.

In addition to a lot of the stuff mentioned above, I would also recommend Garth Ennis's The Boys.

My other half loves the boys, but I think she has kind of gone of it. I like it, but beyond watching supers get what's is coming to them, i find the whole thing a little bit silly, and i have a high tolerance for silly, I mean, I like tank girl!

Gold Digger, from Antarctic Press.

An excellent comic that suffers from a very undeserved reputation as a furry comic, and a very well deserved reputation for fanservice. Both of which mask the fact that it is one of the funniest, most action-packed, and well written comics being published.

Lantern Lodge

As a former comic-shop employee I love threads like this! Here is my go-to list:

-Northlanders (vikings!)
-Fables
-Starman (I think you can only get it for $50 a hardcover volume now, but you may be able to find the older cheaper ones as well)
-Locke and Key
-Hellboy, BPRD, etc. It's all good
-Invincible
-Walking Dead
-DMZ
-Ex Machina

I left out all the capes books, since its too hard to remember what is good and what I like out of nostalgia.

+1. It has kinda gone off the rails into just graphic beatings at this point.

Check out Planetary by Warren Ellis, and if you don't mind extremely violent and degenerate material look into Chronicles of Wormwood by Garth Ennis.

I have been wondering about this so I will check it out.
