Resurrection question

Rules Questions

The resurrection spell says it requires a piece of the body of the person to be brought back. How big of a piece? How small is too small? Would a lock of hair clipped six months prior suffice?
Thanks!

Well, the part needs to have been part of the creature's body at teh time of death, but other than that, there's no restrictions. So hair clipped prior wouldn't count, but hair clipped from the corpse would. It's really up to the GM how much counts as "some small portion". You could argue that something as small as a single strand of hair, drop of blood, or even a toenail clipping is sufficient, provided it was taken from them after they died.

Dust left over from disintegration is enough, so would probably be anything else in that size category. I'm unsure about blood though, is it a part of the body or just inside the body?

Blood would certianly qualify as it is very much a part of the body.

(in real world terms, you could say anything that has some DNA in it could qualify as "enough")

Agreed. A flake of skin, a single hair, or drop of blood would qualify as long as it was taken from the corpse.

I cant help but consider 'contaminated' DNA now, what if the blood got mingled with demon blood ? Might make the character come back as a tiefling instead ;)

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hmmmmmm . . . . . it would bring fun twists to the game.
