Certainly a ftr/pal/cav character is the obvious way to go, though you could also make him a war cleric or battle oracle.

If you wanted to go a bit outside the box you could try using him as a summoner's eidolon.

Halfling for sure, probably Paladin. The armor looks to be heavy so that would eliminate most of the other martial or 3/4 BAB classes. Could be a fighter, but looks to formal. Maybe a cleric with heavy armor feat.

PF Core: Fighter or Paladin, even Cleric would work... He could be the mascot of the group he's with and be a bard!

PF APG: Inquisitor, or, my preference, Cavalier. Battle hearald is a great PrC to go into for this.
