When: Easter Long Weekend, April 22nd-26th, 2011
Where: St Scholastica's College, Glebe, Sydney, Australia
Cost: $10 per session (as each PFS session uses a double Eyecon session)
Web: www.eye-con.info
I'm organising a Pathfinder Society offering at Eyecon in Sydney this year. Here's the event. I have 8 experienced GMs lined up so we'll have a wide variety of scenarios on offer. There will be two overlapping sessions held each day (a morning-afternoon session, and a lunch-evening session) apart from the 26th which will hold a single morning-afternoon session.
Depending on player numbers, several tables may run in any session. Scenarios will be chosen each day to cater for player preferences, character levels, and prior experience. If we attract enough players to run three or more tables in one session, we will run Year of the Shadow Lodge. I think we'll initially target Sunday for this, but if we don't get the numbers, we'll keep it open as a possibility for the next two days as well.
For those of you in the area, please let me know if you plan to come by posting here and/or emailing me directly. Let me know which days you can make (if not all), and which scenarios you'll be hoping to play. This will help me guide the GMs' preparations so hopefully everyone will get a chance to play what they want to.
Cheers,
Al

I think that Eye-con ends on the 25th, apparently they can't get the venue for the 26th. here's the link to the facebook page:

Yeah, it looks like it. Thanks for the heads-up, Neil. I'll mod the event page.

Not having played society games before, a few quick questions - do we have to create our own PFS characters or do you have pregens we can pick up and play with?
If we pick up a pregen can we continue with it in other games?
Yes, you may create your own 1st-level character, use the normal rules from the [ Pathfinder Society RPG Core Rulebook ] while also referring to the [ Guide to Pathfinder Society Guidet to Organised Play ]. Character options from the [ Advanced Players Guide ] and any number of other supplements are also available, but please check the [ Additional Resources ] page to see which character options are legal for PFS play (most are).
Currently, there are also two open playtests: [ Ultimate Magic ] (Magus class) and [ Ultimate Combat ] (Gunslinger, Ninja, Samurai classes) which are legal for PFS play now, however you will need to update your character once these sourcebooks are published.
I'm sure Al will have pre-gens available for new players or anyone who arrives at a table unprepared. But if you're stuck for character ideas, or short on time, paizo has a range of [ Pregenerated Characters ] you can download and print out, and Shisumo has created first-level pregens, one race for every class:
- Pathfinder Society Pregens for Pathfinder RPG
- Pathfinder Society Pregens for the Advanced Player's Guide
You may keep any pre-gen and continue playing it as your own character through other sessions, however you will need to transfer the stats across to a standard character sheet to level him up after your third session.
Hope this helps anyone needing a new character, and that you all have a great time at Eyecon!
Cheers,
Stephen (DarkWhite)
Pathfinder Society 4-Star GM

IIRC, the above-mentioned pre-gens do not include their favoured class bonus hp/skill-point or faction or character traits, as it's assumed the player will select these for himself.
Also, feel free to use pre-gens as a quick starting point for your own character build. For example, change their name, swap out a weapon, feat, spell selection, redistribute skill points etc, as long as you understand which other numbers these changes may effect. Essentially, feel free to customise a pre-gen to suit the character you want to play.
Note: only 1st-level pre-gens can be kept and played future session. If you pick up a 4th or 7th-level pre-gen to play a higher Tier scenario, it's for that one session only.
Cheers,
DarkWhite

Thanks Steve. The info regarding sources and pregens etc., is also available on the Eyecon site here.
I modified it from what you wrote for Arcanacon, Steve.
And Luke: thanks for the requests. I knew you'd have a challenging list of target scenarios for me and I'll do my best to ensure that several of those are available.

If I can convince the missus to watch the kids, I will definitely be there, only got a tier 1 character right now, and if I'm reading the rules correctly, characters cant be played in 2 PFS scenarios at the same time (PbP and PFS con group), if that's so, are you able to create another PFS character...if all else fails, I'll just play one of the Pregens, gaming is still gaming after all.
[EDIT]Just did a quick search through the PFS sub-forum, and I was correct, so, shy of creating another character...I guess I'll be playing some pregens...[/EDIT]

We're just in the process of setting a schedule for what we'll propose to run each day but note that we are committed to remaining flexible so that if a proposal doesn't work for the players that are available, we'll endeavour to find a solution on the day.
I'll post the proposals here soon.
At this stage, it's looking like Sunday may be the best, if you can only make one day. You'll get to play in the Year of the Shadow Lodge special event in the morning, and then move onto another scenario in the afternoon.
Ekeebe: yes, you can have as many PFS characters as you like. If you don't have the time to create your own before the Con, then I'll be bringing a bunch of pre-generated characters with me.

Al, a quick question: According to the EyeCon website, you can only sign-up for one Pathfinder module per day, as slots are expected to run significantly overtime, but in your post above, you say that you can do two games per day; which is correct? (I hope the latter is :-))
I ask, because although I will probably come regardless, I know a few others who do not intend to come if they are restricted to only one game per day (as they consider it to be more hassle than it is worth).

Hi Luke,
The blurb on the website is due to be updated to match the above. That is, we're going to run to different session times so that Pathfinder players can play in two sessions per day.
The original schedule was trying to run to Eyecon slot timings but it became apparent that was really only penalising Pathfinder players. So yes, two sessions per day: Session 1 0900-1400 and Session 2 1500-2000.
Tell all who weren't coming that now they should! We want to see a huge Pathfinder turnout and we're sure we can cater for it!

Fantastic :-)
I have shot the others an e-mail to let them know.
As for myself, I will be interested in:
Friday
[Session 1] Shades of Ice, Part 1: Written in Blood (1-2, 4-5); [Session 2] Shades of Ice, Part 2: Exiles of Winter (1-2, 4-5)
Saturday
[Session 1] Murder on the Throaty Mermaid (1-2, 4-5)
[Session 2] Shadows Fall on Absalom (7–8, 10–11)
Sunday
[Session 1] Year of the Shadow Lodge (1-11)
[Session 2] The Penumbra Accords (1-2, 4-5)
Monday
[Session 1] The Sarkorian Prophecy (7–8, 10–11)
Since most of those are low-level, I hold out hope that I should be able to play most of them (although the high-level games would also be nice!).

I was one of those not attending (I've forwarded the news on to a few others as well). At this stage I'll be attending Friday and Sunday.
Mods I'm able to play are:
FRIDAY
* Shades of Ice Part 1 (levels 1-2)
* Shades of Ice Part 2 (levels 1-2)
SUNDAY
* Year of the Shadow Lodge (levels 1-5)
* Citadel of Flame (levels 1-5)
Unfortunately I've played all of the others (except Silent Tide) or don't have a legal character.

Hi everyone,
The registrations for EyeCon are now open: http://www.eye-con.info/index.php?module=register
To register to play Pathfinder, look for the sessions that run from 9-2, and from 3-8.
I'm not yet too sure about the limitations of the registration system. If, for any reason, you're not getting what you want or the system just isn't working for you, please email me rather than just give up [ajrigg AT gmail DOT com]. Please also forward this information to anyone who you think may be interested. Hope to see you all there for a game or seven.
Al

I've requested that EyeCon add in a general "Pathfinder Society Organised Play" registration option. Please use this option if your other options aren't available (because tables are full, for example) and I will do my best to accommodate you on the day by either moving people around or possibly creating an extra table or two.
Sign-ups are already progressing well, with players registered at most tables already, and a couple are already full so go sign up asap!
The Convention Handbook is here.

Registrations have been live for EyeCon (http://www.eye-con.info/index.php?module=register) for several days now, and we've decided to act on some fairly clear patterns in demand. Consequently, we are changing a few scenarios on offer to remove those that aren't attracting (many) registrations, and replace them with second tables of scenarios that seem to be very popular or scenarios which we think may be more attractive. The following eight changes have been, or will soon be (later tonight), made:
- Friday 9-2: "The Devil We Know, Part 1: Shipyard Rats (1–7)" has been changed to a second table of "Shades of Ice, Part 1: Written in Blood (1–5)."
- Friday 3-8: "The Devil We Know, Part 2: Cassomir's Locker (1–7)" has been changed to a second table of "Shades of Ice, Part 2: Exiles of Winter (1–5)."
- Saturday 9-2: "The Devil We Know, Part 3: Crypt of Fools (1–7)" has been changed to a second table of "Murder on the Throaty Mermaid (1–5)." "Mists of Mwangi (1–5)" has been changed to "The Jester's Fraud (5-9)."
- Saturday 3-8: "The Devil We Know, Part 4: Rules of the Swift (1–7)" has been changed to "The Infernal Vault (1-7)."
- Sunday 3-8: "Delirium's Tangle (1–5)" has been changed to a second table of "The Penumbral Accords (1–5)."
- Monday 9-2: "Drow of the Darklands Pyramid (7–11)" has been changed to "The Rebel's Ransom (5-9)." "The Pallid Plague (1–7)" has been changed to "The Darkest Vengeance (1-5)."
If you are one of the (very, very few) people who had registered for one of the scenarios that has been changed (i.e., Mists of Mwangi, Rules of the Swift, or The Pallid Plague), you will remain registered but for the replacement scenario (which will be updated tonight - the other five changes have been implemented already. If you cannot or do not want to play the replacement, then you will need to change your registration. If you have any problems, email me. On the whole, however, I expect that these changes will be welcomed.
I encourage you to head back to the site and update your registration if any of these changes appeal. In particular, (1) if you are registered at a table that is full but for which a second table has been created, if it makes no difference to you, please switch to the second table so that we create roughly equal numbers on both; or (2) if you have registered for the general Pathfinder Society Organised Play option, and a viable table has now become available. Registrations are progressing well so don't delay or you may miss out a second time.
The updated Pathfinder Society section for the Convention Handbook is here.

A quick correction: If you are one of the people who had registered for one of the scenarios that has been changed (i.e., Mists of Mwangi, Rules of the Swift, or The Pallid Plague), you have been moved into a general registration for PFS Organised Play for that session. Therefore, if there is a specific scenario you're after, you'll need to update your registration. If you have any problems, email me or reply here.

hi all,
new Pathfinder player here. Looking forward to meeting some of you at Eye-con in a few days.
Looks like most of the game levels have been down-sized so hopefully my level 1 won't feel so awe-struck :)
Hi GTB,
Welcome! The vast majority of games will be low tier so you'll have no problem. And if you play for the entire Con, you'll be 3rd level by the end. If you survive, of course...
Look forward to meeting you on Friday.

Yes, there are spaces left! Come along. Unless we'e absolutely flooded by walk-ins, I think I'll be able to ensure that everyone who wants to will be able to play.
ANZAC Day is the Monday, Shifty? If so, there's only a 9-2 session on that day so you wouldn't get a game unfortunately.

EyeCon 2011 done and dusted! It was a massive success for both EyeCon and the Pathfinder Society in general. The Con had its largest ever attendance numbers which was in no small part due to the increased component of Pathfinder Society players.
We ran 26 sessions in total over seven slots with all four tables running in each of the two slots for the three main days and another two on the final morning. I'm not sure of the number of individual players that we entertained but we had between 18 and 27 players per day for each of the main days.
As PFS coordinator, needless to say, I owe all the success at the Con to my GMs and I am very grateful for their willingness to step up and entertain the hordes, and for making me look good in the process. ;-)
In no particular order, they are:
Andrew Patterson (Patto)
Richard Adamson (RizzotheRat)
David Metcalfe (_metz_)
Tristian Sullivan (mongrall)
Neil Mansell (Neil Mansell)
Sebastian Mullins (lastblacknight)
Ben Smyth (Ben Smyth)
Ajay Meeraiya (Ajay)
Please give them a round of applause.
Thank you to all the players who attended the Year of the Shadow Lodge Special Event. We had four tables of 25 players in total. We'll certainly need to consider a fifth and sixth table for future Specials.
Also, a very big thanks to the three wonderful players who travelled interstate and entertained us all with their brilliant roleplaying, and not to mention their costumes for the Special: Meredith (scary), Kat, and Dave: we love you.
Finally, I didn't find out until very late that EyeCon had provided us with a set of prizes to give out. As it was too late to determine which players should receive them before the end of the Con, I will be conferring with my GMs and we'll try to contact the winning players over the next couple of weeks.
Thanks and hopefully see you all at PaizoConOz this year, details to be announced soon!

Having conferred with my GMs over the last few days, we have now identified the PFS prize winners for EyeCon 2011. They are all winners for a variety of reasons that include excellent roleplaying, going above and beyond in the line of table entertainment, helping other players, creating an atmosphere of fun and excitement, and just generally making the Con better than it would otherwise have been. Here then, in no particular order, are the trophy winners:
- Meredith White (scary): Safeword, Inigo Montoya, and Cap’n Salty o’ the Black Sea Ninjas
- David Adams: Vaarden, and Zaheeda
- Crystal Greaves: Trennaliqua, and Nym Tribble
- Adam Luchjenbroers: Zaiku, and Ageas
- Mitchell Mazengarb (MitchellMazengarb): Jake the Druid
- Glenn Mazengarb (DMGlenno): Kylran, and Ak'mazri the Malicious
- Paul Duyker (duyker): Tanner Stonetower
- Gary Newsham (GTB): Felix Devires
- Michael Foster (MichaelFoster989): Caderyn, and Arithon.
- Andy Milne (Valleria): Valeria Lilyfield, and Erindel
- Adam Mansell (averageZombie): Olak, and Saticis
- Brad Kirkwood (BradKirkwood): Alnar the Bleak, Jorall the Wanderer, and Grabnok the Eloquent
In addition to the trophies, we also have two $20 book tokens generously donated by Infinitas Bookshop. The winners of the tokens are:
- Meredith White who received the most prize nominations through just being generally superb to both play with and to GM, her poledance on the mast of the Iron Tide in Sniper in the Deep only one of many examples that had her tables in stitches; and
- Mitchell Mazengarb who, in his adolescence, endured my 'adults only' tour of Kaer Maga with calm and poise, succumbing to dumbstruck horror only at the prospect of having to kiss Miss Feathers.
Well done. I'll be in touch with you all via email to arrange delivery over the next few days but if you read this before I contact you, please email me (ajrigg [AT] gmail [DOT] com) with your address details.
Thanks for helping to make Pathfinder Society at EyeCon 2011 such a success.
Al

I should have said this some time ago (sorry for the delay; I have a new job and was busy moving interstate):
Public, loud and very sincere thanks to all the organisers and GMs at EyeCon. I had a fantastic time, due in no small part to the creative people who lead my games and the smooth running of the sessions. Thanks, everyone! Hope to see you all at PaizoCon.
(Oh, and Safeword sends her hugs to you all.)
