Help me in finding motivations for a LE Monk to join the rebellion (CoT)

Council of Thieves

Firts thing first : I know nothing, or almost nothing, about Cheliax and Golarion. I have read the Player's Companion for the Council of Thieves Adventure Path, but that's all. I know this module is about joining some rebels who want to overthrow the ruling house that keeps the city into fear and opression. I also know that the Church of Asmodeus has risen to power since the dead of the humans' God and that devils are walking more or less freely in the streets.

Obviously, this quest is more easy to run for Chaotic and Good PCs. However, I like challenges and I wanted to play a LE Monk, mostly inspired by Marcalo De'Unnero from the DemonWar Saga, for this module. He would be human and preferably a local. So I wanted to ask for ideas that would help me find motivations for my character to join the rebellion, even if he is LE. My poor knowledge of the setting prevents me to succeed in this task all by myself. I don't even know if there's a Monk monastery in Cheliax.

So, any clues, ideas or advices? :)

#1 Rivalry, after all why should they be in power?

#2 Possibly rivalry again, but there is a female monk order (sisters of something or else) that has power in the land of the thrunes, maybe you come from a rival or defamed order of monks and you want to fix that?

#3 You always read about wars in Hell, devils are always fighting devils, so you are more interested in your own fame and power, and if a government has to fall for that to happen? Well heck, after all, it wasnt your fault they were incompetent, was it?

I think it's very smart to figure that stuff out right away, so that you don't end up with thinking "why is my character doing this?" everys ession. Getting a LE monk into CoT is workable, but tricky. The motivation for the PCs in each adventure is almost always "We love Westcrown and want to help the city", so you'll probably need to make up something else for yourself which is just as general.

Your character could be for a different set of laws or a different system (lawful people don't support ALL kinds of laws), with the secret agenda of starting out at the top of that new system. Eg, he could be all for an independent merchant city of Westcrown, or a Theocracy of [Insert God], with himself as Minister of Trade or "Righteous Fist of [Insert God]".

However, I would warn you that being lawful in the sense that you want to follow most laws will make life difficult i CoT. Almost every adventure sees the PCs breaking or coming very close to breaking the law. You should also steel yourself for dealing with a bunch of very Good guys.
