APG Figher Archtype experience - feedback?

I am about to start in a Council of Thieves game and I have elected to play a fighter of some kind. I was thinking of playing a archetype out of the APG. Anyone have an experience in actual play with the various archtypes?

I know I can go 2 handed falchion or TWF Kukri crit build or some such but I am not necessarily looking for optimization to the hilt, just something engaging other than "I attack"

I am leaning towards fighting with a glaive or some other polearm, but I am open to suggestions.


Mobile Fighter is nice, THF is nice, Phalanx Fighter is nice. I'm not completely sold on polearm fighter but some people seem to like that archetype.

The Dawnflower Dervish looks pretty decent as well.


If you don´t want just attack, why don´t you adopt some maneuvers like feinting or other special weapon oriented feats like dazzling display? APG added some other nice maneuvers, repositioning for example could be useful to defend casters.
And think about playing an academic fighter from the golarion source book (loose the first bonus feat, gain 2 additional skill points per level)


I got a buddy that uses the Polearm Fighter (Phalanx, I think?). It's a very cool close; the abiltiy to wield a polearm in one hand while using a shield is very, very cool.

Fun to shield slam some guy, bull rush him, poke him with my bardiche, crit, push him even farther, have him come back, provoke, get bullrushed again. Would be even better as a straight Phalanx fighter, but needed a hellknight npc
