Hello gamers!
Looking forward to getting the main thread rolling here soon. It was suggested I get this thread up so we can stop all the emailing before we begin. Also, I want to go ahead and put out the current house rules you are all familiar with and find out if there are any others you are interested in. As you know I am in favor of adding Perception as its own stat similar to the way the 40k RPGs did.
House Rules so far:
- Rolling a 77 on your d100 roll is a supernatural success or failure depending on circumstance
We never deviated too much did we? Lol.
Anyway, feel free to use this thread for posting questions and ideas, practicing the BBCode, and any out-of-character discussion. As you can see in the BBCode, ooc is possible in the main thread through the use of [ooc ]text[/ooc]. That is used for questions related to in game circumstances, not rules arguments or other such. If you have any of those, bring them to this thread. If you have any "notes" you want to pass, just email me or use the [spoiler] BBCode if you feel you can trust everyone. :P
Looking forward to a great PbP!

This here is test, see if I can understand the dice rolling mechanic. Also, might just use it for character generation CONSEQUENCES BE DAMNED!
WS:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (4, 8) + 20 = 32
BS:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (9, 1) + 20 = 30
St:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (10, 8) + 20 = 38
Tg:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (1, 8) + 20 = 29
Ag:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (9, 1) + 20 = 30
In:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (1, 1) + 20 = 22
Wp:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (7, 2) + 20 = 29
Fs:2d10 + 20 ⇒ (8, 3) + 20 = 31
Success?

Also, a word on the [dice] BBCode: you can see your numbers before you submit by selecting preview of your post. That way if you want to make some adjustments to your descriptions depending on your level of success, you will know what to write. Of course if you then want to use the [ooc] BBCode to comment on your roll, you can do so as well.
Another word, please remember Paizo messageboard's rules:
- Do not use profanity or vulgar speech
- Do not make bigoted, hateful, or racially insensitive statements
- Do not defame, abuse, stalk, harass, or threaten others
- Do not advocate illegal activities or discuss them with intent to commit them
- Do not post any content that infringes and/or violates any patent, trademark, copyright, or other proprietary right of any third party
Not that I think we will have a problem, but want to make sure no one says anything inadvertantly while trying to roleplay a character.

Alright so since it looks like it'll just be me and Gabe starting out, I have some questions about background info in regards to campaign. Do the characters set out thinking they will eventually return to the Empire?
this has to deal alot with the possible character I'm playing's motivation ya know?
I'm looking at either an ex-con type guy, think Marston from Red Dead Redemption. ooorrr I'm not quite sure really.

Lol, awesome. Drachenfels and that avatar...I should have known you would find it.
As far as your confusion, Drachenfels, would you mind narrowing it down?
AS far as making characetrs: If you look at your profile you will see the option to make "aliases". This is how you make an alias of your character for posting in the game thread once I start it up. Then you when you post, you will see down below a little dropdown box named "Post As". You can then choose to post under your regualr ID or an alias.
Feel free to add information to your alias' profile including any bio info and your stats. Obvously the 6 boxes of stats are more for use w/ 3.5/PF so just put your info in the bio section.

@Cody Eastlick: A far as player' beliefs, that's up to you. You may decide that you are wanting to pursue this in order to escape something and YOU have no intention of coming back. The emperor doesn't have to know that. Obviously he is hoping you will be returning with information. Whether that happens....only the story knows...and by that I mean the dice and me. ;P

Ok I've got it! I'm on Spring Break now so I will get my character all up here and ready to go before the week is out, 100% GUARANTEED! I figure, now tell me what ya think. Ima be a monster hunter. Figure, they'd be hired on for an expedition like this right? Someone truly knowledgeable about possible beasts. Have a high Int and Wp, go from there? Or perhaps my character joined up, thinking of the profit to be had compiling the newest version of a Monster Encylopedia, perhaps a Pocket-sized Monster Codex.
:D
Thoughts?

Sounds great. There is no true pigeon-holed career for the adventurers setting forth. This really is as simple as it sounds. If you are a scribe that feels moved to seek approval from the emperor to take the quest, he just might let you.
Monster info compiler would be pretty awesome. Especially since if you have ever read the WFRP 2E Bestiary, that's exactly what it was. A single man traveling everywhere interviewing monsters. That's right, I said interviewing.

SO here's that FB post about the story again:
Now for the story. No one is corrupted starting off. This means no Chaos cultists, spies or sympathizers. No undead cultists, spies, or sympathizers. The premise is this: Emperor Karl Franz has announced a call across the Empire for the stout-hearted, noble citizens who feel the call to undertake a journey to discover the fate of the First Emperor Sigmar after he crossed over the World's Edge Mountains. So, no one can be tainted at the outset as you will all be subjected to a review of sorts before the adventure gets under way. There will be plenty of chances for you all to fall to death and destruction as we go along.
I need at least a preview of backstory, and an explanation for why your character would choose to join this new crusade whether it be free will, coercion, duty, opportunity-seeking, whatever. New characters only. If there is an old character you want to include in the campaign, email me and we can work out how they would appear in the story.

I need your character info, ODV and then we can get started. I have decided to change the campaign per our phone conversation, so here is the new info:
You are an adventurer whose specialty is locating artifacts and ingredients of the rare variety for a dwarven engineer named Torak who retired from the Imperial Gunnery School in Nuln about 12 years ago. Whatever else you may have done in your life, part of it you spent attending the school, but you either dropped out or were expelled. How and why you were ever enrolled in the school is left to you.
This story will begin with Torak receiving the latest artifact you recovered. Go ahead and decide what you have brought him and provide your character info, and I will go ahead and get the new thread going.
Oh, yeah. The story's location is in Nuln. Torak has a small workshop and living quarters right on the grounds of the school.

pinvendor |

Nice bio. Gives me what I need. Don't forget, you will be in charge of coming up with the first "item" you will be delivering to Torak, as that is where the story will begin. It may not play any consequence for the opening story I have in mind, but it will be fun to see what you come up with.
One thing I realized we haven't discussed is how to award XP. I have figured that I will award XP as we complete certain steps or for specific ingenuity you display. Obviously I will encourage excellent posts, but don't feel you are required to write epic novels each time. That will be my job. :P

Religious Zealot |

"Ahhh, good evening Gentlemen. I see we have begun to assemble. Good, good. Even now I begin to prepare myself for the expedition at hand. Mind you, it is no easy matter to leave everything I own behind. My life as a criminal investigator does not often take me far beyond the walls of Nuln. Still, I could use a nice stretch on a long road. These old legs of mine could use a good stroll. Now, where is that bloody manservant?"
^^ One concept I'm toying with. A play off of Dewell's character, Horrace. I have a few other ideas. I'll post as various characters until I find the one that really clicks for me.

pinvendor |

And so! I am going to make my first post for the campaign. Now the first section will only include ODV as I admit I am a little surprised (pleasantly nonetheless) to see you are interested in pursuing this as well, Drachenfels. As stated, the story will open on ODV presenting something. Once you finalize your character, we'll throw you into the story to, Drachenfels.

pinvendor |

I don't have that one unfortunately, plus out there gunpowder and guns would be really, really hard to come by, so unlikely to be a good place for it. Nuln is the gun capital of the Empire, so much more likely to have "gunslingers" than anywhere else.
The Border Princes would be a better place for "gunslinger" wizards since out there magic would most likely be the most powerful weapon anyone sees with a lot less regulation of it. Think chaotic and necromantic magicks would be more likely to be more prevalent.

OneDrunkViking |

Also, should I ask questions in here like if we ever get to a dialogue between characters and I wanna ask questions my character should already know like lets say "Where would be the bar I frequent nearby?" would that be an ingame post or an OOC one on here? Hmmmmmm
And maybe Hedge Wizardy is a latent talent only to be discovered when I take over the Border Princes...
