Ok, I have not played or run all PFS scenarios so I am unsure if this has come up in past Scenarios but..

Are PFS Characters "Retired" if they get Lycanthrope and can't cure it?

GMs only:
Murder on the Throaty Mermaid, is the first scenario I have seen a Lycanthropic monster, and though the scene leans heavy towards no combat happening, it still could. Has there been other scenarios with Lycanthrope?

That is what I have seen as the official word in another thread I can't find where this was discussed. If a character gets lycanthropy and the player chooses not to, or is unable to, get it cured, then that character is considered retired and cannot be played again.

I tried to find that all I got was Josh saying, If and when it comes up I will rule on it, but I never found a rule on it.

I remember that post too Dragnmoon, so I think your call is correct.

I think it came up in a thread in the regular forums, not the PFS-specific forums.

Yes, but chapter 8 of PFS Guide gives several options for having the lycanthropy removed. Unless the party screwed up royally they should have the gp or the PA at the end of the scenario to have the lycanthropy removed, even at Tier 1.

Lets look at that statement..

To remove Lycanthrope requires a 12th level caster to cast Remove Disease within 3 days. And this particular situation would not allow for that because of the Location because of the inability to get to a 12th level caster and I am unsure If Spending PA will work because it does not distinguish that you need a higher level caster, even if it did, the cost of 6 PA because of not being near a settlement is not feasible to a level 1 character.

12th Level casters are far and few between and most cities will not have one for "Hire", that said the rules really don't distinguish that part of spellcasting for hire and I guess technically they could hire a level 20 spellcaster to cast the spell if they so choose.

GM only:
Murder on the Throaty Mermaid, gets you within 3 days of Mordant Spire, but I am unsure if Mordant Spire has the ability to cast the spell at such a High level.

An afflicted lycanthrope can not infect others with his or her bite. Only natural lycanthropes can do so.

The mod should point out that wolf's bane works on lycanthropy, however surviving that is an ordeal in it's own right. If memory serves it's 1d4 con per minute for several minutes.

BTW flagged this for movement to the proper forum.

Which Forum is that? It was a PFS question.

You were close, but this is the forum you wanted.

I was thinking about putting it there, but the original question was about PFS, and PFS rule questions go here with Spoilers when dealing with plot, which is what I did.

** spoiler omitted **

Buying spellcasting services with PA always gets you the spell at minimum caster level. To get spellcasting services above minimum caster level would require spending gold and have the TPA to afford it.

In prepping this, I noticed that. Glad that was your intent as a writer!

Aha! I thought the situation sounded familiar. Brushed it off as the 'new hotness' since undead are so season 0.
