Have I mentioned lately just how much I despise Windows 10?
As usual, last night I ran Strange Aeons, so I pulled my laptop out, enabled wireless, Windows 10 kept grabbing the weakest-possible signal, so it took us 15 minutes to get started as I had to manually force Windows 10 to connect to the wireless with the strongest signal instead of using the one I'd most recently used. Really? More recent trumps stronger? In what universe do your developers live, Microsoft?
This morning I put my laptop back under my desk to start work. So of course it ignored the hardwired connection and I had massive network issues because from under the desk behind the steel file cabinet it couldn't get a strong connection to any wireless hubs. Because we all know that using a hardwired connection just isn't done.
I cannot believe that every time I move my laptop I have to turn wireless on or off manually, then manually select the network because Windows 10 does it so poorly.
Really, Microsoft? THIS is your flagship product?

And while I'm venting, FFS, co-workers, can't you even do your simple jobs?
Two years ago during handoffs, the production team screwed up our numbering fields. We were all given action items to manually fix the fields as of our next release. It's been at least four releases since then.
And yep, you guessed it: The moron whose practices I'm testing never got the memo, so I'm manually fixing fields that should have been fixed over a year ago!

Is this a custom image? Work image? Standard out of the box image? I never have this problem. Of coures, I build a custom image myself as any OS you buy pre-installed comes with a lot of crap and bloatware (just like phones)

I'd say, "Ah, teenagers," but I'm well aware this is an issue throughout all ages: The girls on the trip really wanted to order sweatshirts, and I told them I didn't want to pay for them this year, so I wouldn't let them use my card unless they promised to pay me back.
And yes, a month later only one person has paid me back: The person who wasn't even in the car when they made the promise!!!
So I texted them a polite note.
But my approach to life is simple: I'll front you the money once, ever. If they don't pay me back this year, they'll never get to order shirts again. Not my problem...

She may as well have replied with "I like flowers."
She was given written instructions. They included pictures. There was no math involved. There was barely anything they had to do, other than a copy/paste.
Really, the only way the migration could have been made easier on her is if she were fired before going through it.

Locked my keys in my car.
I did that, once.
I stopped locking my car after that.
If there's something of value in my car it's news to me. Even the CDs in there are burned mix CDs.
Shoot, the car itself has more sentimental value then street value.

Sounds like they put in some 'helpfull features' that either were not tested properly, or were not tought out at all.

I strongly suspect it's "European Windows" vs. "U.S. Windows" rather than anything else. Everyone I know who has a Windows 10 laptop has wireless connectivity issues, no matter what brand nor where it came from.
My son, with a store-bought MSI laptop, gets the exact same behavior as I do. When his friends come over, they have the same issues. We've all just gotten accustomed to disabling our laptops' wireless adaptors the moment we plug in...

Woohoo! Finals done. Now that I’m out of a political philosophy class hopefully my friends and family won’t run for the hills every time they see me coming. That class was not kind to my mental health.
All my family does at family gatherings is debate political philosophy.
That or Star Wars vs Star Trek, or how awesome Firefly was, and that there's an online petition to bring it back. Eye twitches, ever so slightly.

Roadside assistance is on the way. Insurance app even has a button for it that basically lets me send all the necessary info eithout actually talking to a person. Yay!
Hour wait though. At least it's nice out.
So this may be as obsolete as my car, but back when I was a AAA member they had a service where they'd cut your key into a plastic card the size of a credit card, but maybe 1.5x as thick.
I got one done for the Celica, and 18 years later that stupid plastic key can still open the door. And you carry it in your wallet with your driver's license, so it's pretty much impossible to lock yourself out of your car unless you lock both your wallet and keys in at the same time. (Sorry, ladies! 'Cause I know purse-stranding is a thing.)

I'll have to see if I can get that done around here.

part of me wants to crash your family gatherings. If I do, make sure Vany or Nobodyshome are there. We may need video evidence and I can't be me and hold a camera without a selfie stick.
