Sorry I didn't have time to respond to everybody's well wishing yesterday. Thanks for all of that. Things are a bit hectic. Still hectic, in fact. I do have a job at Cost Plus World Market now. First location ever built, in fact. I like the tourist trap of Fisherman's Wharf surprisingly well for somebody who lives in San Francisco, so working there will be interesting, and since I already had rent and food covered for the rest of the year before getting this job, I'm looking pretty good on finances. Sure, it's only minimum wage, but here in San Francisco that means $12.25 an hour, and 20 hours of that a week when living expenses are already taken care of puts me in a good position to afford fun things. Especially with my 20% employee discount, since my store sells plenty of booze.

I can only put one other person on my employee discount, and my sister took the spot. Sorry, mate.

i got sent on a wild goose chase looking for the room and time of the Go club at my campus since they didn't list the time and place for this semester
I have dreams like that; only I'm looking for classes on the first day, but it turns out they're giving the final exam and I've skipped all the work in the quarter.

LOL. Discounts?!?!?! Discounts?!?!?!! We don't need no steeenking deeescounts!!!
CY has the right of it: Time-honored tradition is to make friends regret ever telling you where they work retail. Buying things? That would be... odd...
On the other hand, Shiro's player is a rather ludicrous spendthrift. I'm sure Cost Plus has stuff he'd actually buy for no reason...
...and I hate to admit it, but I really do need a new papasan, and I think they're the ones who carry 'em...

of course you were! It is from aeglos' visit to the us where he proposed to his lovely wife, sabine (she really needs a name for these boards. I suggest the german translation of "possum-mother"!). We were talking and walking down the street when out of nowhere a good old new York street rat (probably larger than 6 in across, about a foot long) was disturbed by our passage. He ran out and away into the street. CH and I were worried that she might think less of our town, when she simply remarked that she startled a possum. I believe CH said calmly, "that wasn't a possum..."

Anyone can visit me at work, I work at Toys R Us, anything to get out of working I say!
The one downside to where I work is occasionally I see people I went to high school with, which isn't fun "I thought you were a heavy equipment operator?" "I was" "oh..."
They never listen when I say I gave it up to stay at home with the kids, just assume I've hit rock bottom, I guess its my fault for being the most visible hippy in a s@&@ty little town:-D

Nah, he'll just give you a bill and a list of things to buy... :P
One of my friends worked at computer game shop... She had a discount and was quite persuasive tempting us with various games. I got Gears Of War.
BTW: I should probably install them and try to get to the end this time... I am not sure why I haven't finished it when I was playing.
Of course if I install them I will need to struggle with the installation error that insisted on giving me Czech version instead of Polish/English (or was that Slovak? I don't remember).

quiet you two.
Jesus was born on December 25th to keep my birthday from dominating the week. He did a brother a solid. Now we can have Christmas and Freehold Day parties together instead of half a year apart.

I love, love I say made up holidays I'm in! How do we celebrate :-)
And by love I mean love! I still celebrate Rage Day on July 3rd every year, and we just made it up as an excuse to listen to Rage Against the Machine and drink all day twenty years ago.

I think it would be simply Possummutter. Always capitalized - nouns are always capitalized in German. EDIT: No umlaut. Umlaut turns Mutter into plural.
EDIT: Or Opossummutter.
Anyway, German is quite versatile in creating complex nouns by joining two or more words together so it will be a single long word.

Better off not knowing.
I liked them sometimes as a kid. I think I had some of a ham one a number of years ago and it was absolutely foul.

The good part is, while Sabine doesn't speak English fluently, the English "rat" sounds just like the German "Rät", so she knew just what I said :)

Otherwise it's been a pretty rough night, Pea Bear got some kid in trouble at school* so now I gotta straighten it out in the morning after giving her an incredibly long and frustrating discussion on Karma and such, then I had to help the red neck family deal with their s+%@ because neighborhood and all (that's a long story)
*this kid evidently was twirling in a circle thru the center of the aisle between desks in the classroom and accidentally got Pea Bear with a a stray slap in his twirling and Pea Bear told the teacher "he hit her" we've made her write a letter of apology and gave her the whole "don't be a tattletale" followed by "what would Karma think" and topped it off with a "pick your battles, turn the other cheek" lecturing, all in all an exhausting night, also one of my brother's friends passed away, he was a year older then me, but had many many health problems, still not a good way to end the night.
Also my mom is starting to get painfully insensitive with her email announcements on account of her being pissed we're still not on Facebook, so I'm really drained, hopefully at the least I'll sleep a bit tonight:-(

I have one of those cast iron reversible grill/griddles I use on the stovetop. I would love to have a "real" outdoor grill, but the place I'm living only allows propane grills, and I'm a charcoal or nothin' kinda guy.
