To this day I'm grateful my father shelled out the cash to send my brothers and I to that school. It was an excellent environment and helped make me the lovable, yet desirous of being your overlord, person I am today.

And, with that, I shall now go find my clothes.

They had some questionable teaching techniques, though, keeping students naked and all that...

Time to start preparing stuff for dinner.

The menu tonight is:

pork medallions with mushroom sauce
creamed onions
colcannon
and whatever I come up with to prepare any leftover cabbage

The big winner was cabbage in milk - the recipe I chose to use the rest of the cabbage. For such a prosaic-sounding dish, it was absolutely outstanding. That recipe is a keeper.

Here's one of the weirder exchanges I've had this week, on DeviantArt with M:tG illustrator Johannes Voss, in response to a poll he had created entitled "More science! Your relationship status?"

Me: "Was in a three-year relationship up until just about a year ago, when she broke off our engagement, took a bunch of my stuff, and ran off to New York City with some actor. Since then, nothing on my end."

Johannes: "Believe it or not, but I know that feel. It'll get better brah, work your hardest, get in shape and live the life of kings!"

Me: "The life of kings, eh? So you're saying I should marry my sister, then execute all of my friends out of sheer paranoia, all before dying of syphilis at the ripe old age of 29? Sounds like a plan I could work with."

Johannes: "You got it, bro! *fistbump*"

Usually, people run screaming from that stuff.

I woke up this morning, and walked into the kitchen to see my roommate / best friend putting a few pots and pans in the trash can. When asked why he was throwing them out, he answered, "They went bad." I need to start keeping a list of these things...

Another contender for quote of the day:

"When you first said 'crematorium,' I first thought of an auditorium filled with whipped cream, but then cruel reality set in. Why does something so dismal have to sound so delicious?"

Cabbage in milk? Sounds strange. I consider buying a cabbage and living on potatoes and cabbage another week. Maybe with a sprinkle of chicken livers fried with onions. Maybe.

What's weird with that exchange? It seems perfectly reasonable to me...

Also, do I remember correctly that means you have three years left to fulfill that plan? Or is that Scint who is 26... (ok, here I admit laziness, checking through the older post should give me the answer but I don't want to sink in for the rest of the night).

Cabbage stew is a surprisingly good dish - especially when you consider that it's got cabbage in it.

Bigos. I don't cook it myself. Too much work. Not to mention that I am cheap on seasoning and meats.

There is also kapuśniak. I'd prefer bigos myself.

04:00? How? When? Uh?

I woke up way too early again, and the workplace MSN has crashed.

On the bright side, I finally got that pantheon done and named one nation!

Ooh, didn't know Greeks and Romans had their own version of voodoo as well.

Very interesting, Icy. Never heard of those. I love learning about stuff like that.

Same here, and I get the added bonus of possibly incorporating those into my campaign setting as well!!

The Fighter/Barbarian left my Kingmaker group since he has three other groups (one Pathfinder and two Dark Heresy) to juggle with. That means I can bring back the Ironskin Monk / Monk of the Seal DMPC to balance out the group. Since she spent all the time she was away training, I can keep her at the same level as the other characters without causing a plot hole. And yeah, I finally get to continue Kingmaker this week!!

Stuff goes bad on us all the time. We try our best to keep track of it and use it in time, but stuff always slips through. Usually it's the impulse buys.

And now I know why I was reluctant to post my resume publicly on career builder and monster. Sure I got a few legitimate inquiries but I also have gotten a lot of "would you like to own your own insurance branch or pay us $5,000 to develop a killer resume and marketing plan for you offers"

I agreed to two such pay us to market you interviews today before I realized what I almost got myself into. Luckily I pulled the plug before I wasted a drive into downtown Houston. Mrgh!

On the bright side, I still have a steady trickle of opportunities to pursue.

I need to hurry up and get a job in time to restart my subscription before Ultimate Campaign comes out. Plus, there is a certain module that comes out in May that I have my eye on.

Extra sleep! Please, tell me - what's it like?

Scarab Sages

Although I partially joke - on the weekends, I usually get a chance to sleep in a bit while the wife gets up with the boy. It's during the week that I usually get up with him.

My story involves space, monkeys, space monkeys, and industrial-strength adhesives. That makes it fun, engrossing, and easy to stick to.

And today I dreamed of... Damn, I can't recall... *sigh* I remembered after waking, before getting up.

Honestly, not all that great. There was very little actual sleep involved, as my internal clock had me up at near my normal time, I just kept rolling over to try to go back to sleep until I noticed the light from the phone; I never heard the alarm, apparently putting my phone face-up speaker-down on the pile of papers and letters makes a good muffler.

Then once I was up there was a lot of rushing around to get showered, dressed, etc. in time to leave at my normal time and make it to work, stop by at the store on the way for breakfast, and get in before I was late and locked out of the timeclock.

Would not recommend.

Alright, time to close Paizo and get some work done. Cya laterz FAWTLfolk.

There was a great moment in the Rome TV series where Servilia was cursing Atia with one of those.

Morning, all. What did I miss?

Silver Crusade

I had a dream where I encountered a mother leopard and her cubs by a watering hole. For some reason I was not intimidated by the leopard. Instead, I was struggling to photograph the cubs with my phone, and the interface was making it too difficult to do so.

Weird dream.

But leopard cubs are cute.

One of those play a pretty big role in the largest of the past-life plotlines in Katherine Kerr's Deverry series.

Guess the Deveti managed to pick up a thing or two from the Romans before escaping to Annwn.

There's mentions of a character reading philosophical treatises by Aristotle and Cicero, too, if I remember correctly.
