Menacing Weapon

Rules Questions

Description says all flanking allies bonus increases by +2.

Does that include the wielder (if he is flanking as well)?

I think that it should benefit the wielder. If I remember correctly PF considers character to be own ally - I think that only 4th edition that changed definition of ally to not include onself.

Personally I would think it does not, I imagine the menacing weapon's wielder demands enough attention to allow others to strike at the weak spots in his defense.

I am under the impression most effects specifically state if the initiator of the effect also gets the bonus.

I 'm not sure. For example, the cavaliers charge bonus to allies doens't state (but was later clarified), but DOES include the cavalier.

I'm not sure if menacing would grant the bonus to the wielder?

This is what the Core Rules FAQ says about counting as your own ally:

Do you count as your own ally?

You count as your own ally unless otherwise stated or if doing so would make no sense or be impossible. Thus, "your allies" almost always means the same as "you and your allies." (SKR 10/12/10)
