We started playing this campaign today. It's my first official Pathfinder AP (that I actually look to enjoy. I briefly played Second Darkness but that was a terrible mistake), so I thought I'd catalogue our party's tales.
We have:
* Lord Manius Wintrish (NE human wizard) - That's me!
* Marthos (LG human cavalier)
* Setesh (G aasimar oracle)
* The Great Juan Luigi (E tiefling monk)
I took the Rich Parents trait and spent all of my extra gold on buying a "sizeable home" and the trappings that a nobleman requires. Unfortunately his place is in disrepair as his family fortunes were lost during the Troubles. He hopes to regain the wealth and station which is rightfully his.
Marthos is a trainer of the Dottori. He thinks pretty highly of himself and walks around with a tower shield. He's impossible to hit, but appears to struggle at hitting anything else either.
Setesh is an opera singer and doesn't realise he's an aasimar but thinks he must be a tiefling. He doesn't use any of his supernatural abilities if he thinks someone will notice him using them.
The Great Juan Luigi is a cage fighter who lives in a dodgy apartment above a brothel. He's also a complete drunk.
We went through the first book in 1 day, reaching level 3 by the end. Everything occurred much as you'd expect. The Setesh and Manius get along well, Marthos and Setesh get along well. Manius and Marthos aren't exactly the best of friends while nobody likes the tiefling.
Setesh and Manius wanted to call ourselves the Children of Westcrown largely because it doesn't have any religious connotations (that was Manius's concern) and its also not antagonistic (Manius and Setesh's concern). Marthos wanted to call the group Marthos's Minions while Juan wanted to call us the Wriscani Warriors. The majority won. Our uniform is a rakish hat and a cape with various ways to hide our faces (that was Juan and Marthos's contribution).
We saved Arael and agreed to take out the tieflings. After we killed the first group of tiefling experts, it was decided the monk would go up the belltower while the cavalier would stand outside the door to the main temple. The wizard and oracle almost died to the giant rot grub before successfully taking out the rogues.
While we were taking out the Rogues the cavalier and monk decided to initiate the temple combat. Because the cavalier couldn't be hit he simply presented his shield for five rounds while the monk hid behind a closed door. The enemies readied to shoot the cavalier. The wizard and oracle came into the room after taking out the rogues and the wizard killed the first tiefling before everyone else helped kill the others.
We went downstairs, taking out every combat we could. The Wizard cast his buffs and then hid around a corner while the others fought in magical darkness (stupid tieflings!). The one time he came around to enlarge someone he was killed by a tiefling with a bastard sword.
Afterwards the party took out a cleric. With the wizard dead, the lawful good cavalier insisted the party return the stolen goods. The tiefling objected, but was voted down. The wizard would have come to the tiefling's defence, but he was dead.
After gaining some reward for recovering the stolen goods and getting some infamy points, the party headed to Lord Wintrish's home. There his servant was largely useless but did say the wizard would sincerely like to come back alive. The group considered making the servant liquidate all of the Lord Manius's property to pay for the reincarnate, but ultimately decided to pay for the reincarnate themselves.
Lord Manius Wintrish came back as a damn gnome. Originally he was meant to come back as an orc, but the DM demanded a reroll. The lord was then meant to come back as a troglodyte, but the DM demanded another reroll. So he came back as a gnome.
He can't exactly claim to be Lord Manius Wintrish, as he's clearly not a Chelaxian. He can hardly advance the cause of his family (of which he's the sole survivor) as a gnome, which was the only reason for joining the revolutionaries.
He did learn from the druid that he can regain his human shape if he gets a limited wish cast. So he came up with the cover story that Lord Manius Wintrish isn't dead, but is in fact in Ergorian furthering his studies of the arcane arts.
So now I have to pay the 121 gp a month cost of living expenses for my sizeable home, but I can't take advantage of it (as it would be suspicious having a gnome suddenly living in the house).
Lord Manius is now going under the alias of Ronsboron and will be living out of the shrine of Iommadae. I don't know how feeding information on our rebel group to the Hellknights will be useful. But I'm sure I'll find a way as the campaign continues.
All in all it looks like its going to be a fun campaign. I'm having fun despite dying, and all of our characters are flavourful and fun. Also I'm totally going to use the fact I'll be looking like a gnome for most of the campaign to my advantage. I get to act like a revolutionary, get a reputation and not have to worry about longterm consequences because at 9th level I will get a limited wish to return to human.
In the meantime I don't have to keep up the appearances of being a nobleman, so Ronsboron can actually work for a living. He wants to become a barrister simply because having a lawyer that can defend the rebels if they get caught has to be useful. Also the cavalier keeps going on about what we're trying to do being illegal and so Ronsboron wants to learn the law simply so he can mess with the cavalier.
How does one go about becoming a barrister in Westcrown? I've got a classical education (I speak Infernal, Ancient Azlanti and will have almost all of the knowledge skills and have 2 ranks in Profession (Scribe)). How much further training do I need to become a lawyer?
