I'm interested in trying a VTT or PbP game. I've done VTT twice (the guy running it stopped after the second game for an unknown reason) but those where people I knew from the guild I was in playing Vanguard:SOH. Where would one go to find VTT games? Whats the etiquette for VTT and PbP games? Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Paizo boards.

I can't speak about VTT, but PbP is easy here at Paizo or any number of other RPG sites. (I'll confine my remarks to Paizo, since it's what I know best.)

You might find a game by advertising "I would like to play in a PbP game" in the Gamer Connection forum. It works occasionally.

But if you are serious about finding a game, my advice is to lurk here. Check Gamer Connection 2 or 3 times a day and just leap into a new thread advertising game openings.

OF course if you want to run a game it is even easier. If you post it, they will come.

Good luck!

Yes, I will come if you do ^_^

Sweet thanks for the advice!

I don't know the etiquette or the methodology (what to do for maps, handouts, etc. etc.) so for now I'm just looking to play. I'll most likely end up running something in the future since I GM WAY more then I get to play.

Maps and visuals vary from group to group. Generally, each game has two threads - one for actual game play and a discussion thread for out of character (ooc) discussion. Check out the sticky thread onPBPsAGeneralDiscussionForAllPbpers to learn more. I would also say to check out a couple of games to see how they do things. TherealThoms's Crimson Throne game, which I play in, has been going for three years now and is a great example. Check it out: Crimson Throne

Moved thread back - sorry 'bout that! Also edited the topic title to be more revealing.

I checked out that sticky but without understanding some of the "lingo" its a puzzle in its self. 3 years on a campaign, man I wish I could find that around here!

And thanks Liz!

You've got to understand that 3 years PbP equates to about 12 gaming sessions face to face. PbP does move slowly.

IF you post questions in the stickied thread, you will get answers.
