Male Human Urban Ranger/1

Rnd 3, 17/17 hp, no effects

If Morthos is down, and I can step over him...
Petvar steps up to the skeleton, and readies for Filios to get behind the skeleton. Filios! Can you get behind this skeleton? I know that's an unenviable position, but maybe if we work together we can take this one down quickly.

Since Filios took his round 4 action before I took my round 3 action, I'll adjust to just attacking without the flank.

Morningstar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
MS Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Light Hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
LH Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

If I could hit the damnable thing, it would be dust!

Sorry Petvar, saw Solomon's post, and I thought we were done with Round 3. In any event, based on my reading of the map and Sunshadow's posts, I thought that there were skeletons directly behind the front two which would make flanking impossible. Am I right on this Sunshadow?

As soon as Petvar posts, I will have the skeletons go again.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

@Sunshadow: He just acted. Could I have flanked, or are there skeletons directly behind the front two?

Male Human Urban Ranger/1

Rnd 4, 17/17 hp, no effects

Petvar hopes Filios is able to flank for him. And he attacks the skeleton in front of him. Petvar in P5, skeleton in Q5

Morningstar: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 (+2 more w/flank)
MS Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Light Hammer: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24 (+2 more w/flank)
LH Damage: 1d4 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

The skeletons with spears are directly behind the ones with spears so no flanking possible until you can destroy one of the sword skeletons.

Petvar attempts to hit the skeleton, but fate just doesn't want these skeletons to die.

The skeletons once again release their combined fury on Darren, and miss spectacularly as Petvar steps up and shatters one of the sword wielding skeletons in the front.

rolls:
sword 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
sword 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
spear 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
spear 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
arrow 1 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
arrow 2 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19

Updated map, or is the other one being updated as we go?

I'm trying to keep up on the map, but work schedule has made it hard for me to be front of the computer that has it. I will hopefully get an updated one up sometime today.

updated map

Thanks Sunshadow - for some reason, I cannot make out most of the skeletons. Can you please rundown their current locations for me?

Sorry, the map doesn't do always so well after having to be tranlated across 3 programs/locations.
Skeletal sword - Q4
Skeletal spear - R4, R5
Skeletal archer - U4, U5

M Human Ftr3

Round 4, 14 HP, fighting defensively: AC 25

Darren hopes he can continue to draw their attacks. He takes another guarded swing at the remaining sword-wielding skeleton.

Mace, no power attack, fighting defensively: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Also, can we get the initiative order reposted? Thanks.

Round 4; 21/21 hp, no effects
Solomon stands back, realizing he still does not have room to enter the fray. Despite growing frustrated at not being able to join the battle, he calms himself, grasping his holy symbol, and asks Torag for his blessing to keep his friends alive.

Channel Positive Energy 1d6 ⇒ 1
Sonofa! Oh well, that ought to catch all of us in the radius.

Male Dwarf Empyreal Sorceror (Seeker) 1

Morthos continues to be stable, now at -4hp ;-)

If it's any comfort, Morthos, I have a character sitting in the exact same situation in a game I am a player in.

Im tryin lol, but Im really hoping to avoid a situation where I get you back to 1hp, then someone else drops, and ive used all my spells for the day in the one fight.

1d6 ⇒ 3

That's a little better. That wil put Morthos at -2.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

Round 5, HP: 18/18, AC: 17, No effects

Filios will acrobatically roll to a position in S5 in an attempt to avoid any AoO, provide a future flanking possibility, and attack the Skeleton in R5.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15

Bone ATT: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Bone DAM: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Petvar step up to flank this guy!

Male Human Urban Ranger/1

Rnd 5, 17/17 hp, no effects
Petvar ignorantly unafraid of the skeletons steps up to the skeleton in front of Filios and wails on it as best he can. 5' step to Q5 and attack skeleton in R5.

Morningstar: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 20
MS Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 3 + 2 = 8
Light Hammer: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 3 + 2 + 2 = 17
LH Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 2 = 7

Good dots Petvar - I hope that stands! Skeletons go in between you and I in initiative. If the one in R5 steps up to attack you on its turn, then the flanking will not apply. You should still hit with at least one of those without the flanking. Plus, I would assume that he will turn and attack me after being hit.

That Channel will have gotten Darren as well. Thanks for the reroll, sunshadow.

The spearmen in R5 gets a shot at Filios as he tries to tumble by, but it bounces off the armor as Filios comes up from behind and smacks him hard. Petvar steps up and just manages to connect with his morningstar, finishing it off.

spear aoo 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

The remaining melee skeletons continue to beat on Darren, but the archers switch their attention to Filios. The sword and spear both miss, though the sword at least hits armor, but one arrow catches Filios off guard, doing 7 points of damage.

Spoiler:
sword 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
spear 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
arrow 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
arrow 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
damage 1d8 ⇒ 7

Initiative order at this point is you guys, in what ever order you post, and then them. At this point there is no need for the more complicated order.

I think my Channel should come, technically, after the skeletons turn you just posted, Sunshadow. I took my third and fourth turns before you posted the skeletons fourth, and I know I go after them. If thats ok, then the Channel heal ought to get Filios as well, after he was hit this turn.

I don't have a problem with it healing Filios.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

I will stick to the initiative order and wait for Solomon's and Darren's actions before proceeding. Their level of success will impact my actions.

Round 5, 21/21/hp, no effects
Solomon says another short prayer, this time more insistently, to Torag.
Channel Positive Enery 1d6 ⇒ 3

Hearing Morthos groan as he regains consciousness, Solomon looks back at him briefly, "Welcome back to the party. Unfortunately, we still got some guests who don' want ta leave." Temporarily sticking his hammer under his left arm, he offers a hand up to the prone dwarf.

Male Dwarf Empyreal Sorceror (Seeker) 1

Morthos gives Solomon a weak smile.

"Well, we can't have that! They really need to shown the meaning of good manners..."

He then shakily gets to his feet, throws a telekinetic punch at the archer in U4, and 5' steps into the alcove next to him (O6).

Telekinetic Fist, Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10, for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 Bludgeoning damage.

M Human Ftr3

Round 5, 20 HP, AC: 23
Did those channels also damage the skeletons?

After the healing, and seeing that some of the skeletons have turned their attention from Darren, he lowers his guard to try to improve his attacking accuracy.

Mace, no power attack, not fighting defensively: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21; damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Morthos' blast misses the skeleton, hitting only some old linens in one of the alcoves. Darren lays into the remaining swordsman, and destroys it.

Channeling positive energy either heals living creatures or harms undead, but it doesn't do both at the same time.

Male Dwarf Empyreal Sorceror (Seeker) 1

For the record, I am happy with the healing ;-)

Round 6, HP: 17/18, AC: 17, No Effects

Well Done Darren, step up to flank if possible!

Filios slides five feet to S4, and attacks the sole remaining spearman skeleton in R4.

Bone ATT: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Bone DAM: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Male Human Urban Ranger/1

Round 6, 17/17 hp, no effects

Petvar steps up to attack the longspear wielding skeleton.

5' step into Q5, full attack
Morningstar: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9 (no flank)
MS Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 3 + 2 = 12
Light Hammer: 1d20 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 3 + 2 = 18 (no flank)
LH Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 3 + 2 = 9

Good idea. Can Darren still take a 5-ft step in round 5 to take the spot of the sword-wielding skeleton he destroyed? Not sure if the +2 flanking would help Filios's attack anyway - these skeletons have such a high AC.

Round 6, 21/21 hp, no effects

Solomon reaches into his belt pouch and scrounges around for a minute before pulling out a flask of pulling out a vial of holy water. After stepping as close behind his allies as he can, to limit the amount of cover they might give to his target, he flings the vial at the nearest skeleton.

Ranged Touch Attack 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

Not a problem at all. It may not help Filios' chances to hit a lot, but it does increase damage significantly if he can because of sneak attack damage.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

If Darren was able to step up into a flanking position after his attack and before mine, then the Bone ATT would be a 19 to hit.

Bone ATT DAM + Sneak ATT DAM: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

With Darren stepping up and distracting the remaining spearman, Filios is able to step behind it and finish it off after Petvar deals a heavy blow to it.

Intelligence check DC 15:
The process used to create these alchemical skeletons is apparently hard to apply completely evenly, as evidenced by the fact the spearmen were slightly easier to hit than the swordsmen, something that whoever created them tried to hide by giving them different weapons and arranging them accordingly in this crypt.

The remaining skeletal archers takes two more shots at Filios, but the arrows both fly wide.

rolls:
arrow 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
arrow 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Darren left to act in Round 6, then top of the order - only archers remain!

Int check 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15

"Looks like those spear carriers are bein easier ta hit. I think whatever alchemical process our mystery man used to create these things isnt an exact science yet, so its not affecting all of these the same. Might be that the ones with bows are even easier to hit than the spear-wielder, since they are in the back an' all.

M Human Ftr3

Round 6, 20 HP, AC: 23

Darren steps up to one of the archers and takes a powerful swing.

Power attack with mace: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14; damage 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13

Darren fails to penetrate the armor, but comes closer to doing damage than he would have on the other skeletons.

Male Elf Rogue Swashbuckler/4; HP: 27/27; AC:20; T: 16; FF: 15; F: 1/R: 8/W: 1; CMD: 20; Init: 6; Perc: 7; Sense Motive: 0

Round 7, AC: 17 (15 w/charge), HP: 17/18

Filios charges the archer next to the one that Darren attacked.

Bone ATT: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 2 = 16
Bone DAM: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Are we waiting for Morthos and bad guys to go before Round 7 gets fully under way?

Filios manages to connect his club with the skeletal archer and it goes down. The remaining archer takes a 5 foot step back and fires at Filios, with the shot going straight up into the ceiling somehow, before being ripped asunder by the party.

arrow 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

500 xp each; If your character gets enough XP to level they may do so immediately. This grants the extra hp, but does not heal damage, and grants any additional spell slots, but not spells prepared. A caster capable of spontaneously casting could use these slots normally, a cleric could only use them for cure or inflict spells, a druid for summon nature's ally, etc. Prepared casters may prepare spells in these slots as if they had left the slots blank for the day, if they are able to do so. They can go through the appropriate spell preparation as if they had already rested if applicable. Please post level up details in the ooc thread.

"Well, that was exciting!" Solomon says, somewhat gravely. Turning back to Morthos, Solomon places his hands near the other dwarves wounds and begins praying. Solomon's drow begins to sweat as he prays with intense fervor over his friend and light begins emitting from his hands.

When Solomon removes his hands, the wounds are much cleaner and far less severe.

Cure Moderate Wounds 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (7, 4) + 3 = 14 Spontaneous cast for my open spell slot. What does that bring you to, Morthos?

"Anyone else injured?"

Male Dwarf Empyreal Sorceror (Seeker) 1

Even after that mighty healing spell, Morthos is still down 9hp :-/

Morthos breathes a little more easily as the worst of his near-fatal wounds close over. Wincing slightly, he throws a smile at Solomon.

"Thanks. I definitely needed that!"

M Human Ftr3

Darren leans up against the wall, looking over the piles of bones, disappointed that he didn't hit more often. He pushes his self doubt aside, however, and sets his mind to the task at hand.

I'm coming up with 5033 exp. I went ahead and levelled Darren. Let me know if y'all are counting something different.

I am at 5008, but I have been known to add incorrectly in the past. Math skills are not my best asset. :-)

5033 here.
