Insufficient packaging

Let me start by saying, I love the content of all shippings I received from you guys, be it AP, hardcover books, stand alone adventures, modules, chronicles, what-not.

Let me follow that by saying that your packaging has left me wanting three times already.

I live overseas from you guys and every bigger order I've placed has come in a heavily dented cardboard box! With that few "bumper material" put inside besides the books, they are jostled around and all corners are dented and bent.

As I've read this complaint has come up a couple of times already.

You know the size of your books published and you know the size of the boxes you use for mailing - why can't you either stuff more fluffy flakes inside or get the books wrapped in cardbord prior to putting them loosely in the US postal standard boxes to protect the edges?

Ruyan, thanks for your post. We are taking steps to improve the shipping of our packages, particularly those going overseas. If you feel any of your items are too damaged to use, please let us know.

Thanks for the reply, Liz.
I helped myself by "ironing" the paperbacks with half a meter (what's that, one and a half feet?) of hardcover books piled on top of them.
The hassle I've got to go through by eventually mailing them back to you is too much at the moment.
Anyways, I will let you know, how shipping/packaging improves ;-)

I was about to post this very topic but saw this thread. Hopefully I can throw my 2c in as well...

I currently subscribe to the APs, RPG, and Tales. I'm considering dropping the latter two* because they inevitably force the shipped container from the wonderful, wonderful white cardstock container (NEVER had a problem with that all the way back to RotRL #1) to a cardboard box.

I'm in the U.S., and I'm not sure how it happens, but there is *always* one corner of the box crimped. Not even a whole lot, but enough that the contained books are all crimped as well. It was so bad that I have asked for replacements of a couple but I HATE doing that -- Paizo is in business to make money, I like Paizo to stay in business, therefore having them ship out new copies is counter to that! Bestiary 2 was one of the worst yet with a torn binding but I've decided to suck it up. =/

When the original PFRPG shipped (and I think Bestiary 1 too) it was in great shape -- there were cardboard corner protectors. That wouldn't have protected the bindings if the crimped corner had been there, however, but it helped.

I know it adds to the cost but is there anything that can be done? A slightly bigger box with a cardboard "tray", perhaps? That'll also have the side effect of making the box too big to fit in my mailbox -- right now it does, barely so, and I think that sometimes the crimping happens due to an overly strong mailperson...

*by "dropping" I mean switching the lines to my FLGS. I already switched my Companion and Chronicles subscriptions to them as they really need the business. So, don't worry, I won't be dropping it entirely -- I loves me some Paizo-ey goodness.

Liberty's Edge

As another international customer (Scotland), I also have this problem with whenever you send me a hardcover book it invariably arrives with dented corners not enough to render it unusable but enough to irk me.

As I mainly use pdf's I don't complain but better packaging would be a very nice thing to see.
