This is actually a branching off from the [Super Genius Games] Help Plan 2011 for SGG! - specifically if was spawned by some comments made by poster Dark_Mistress. :)

What this is is an adaption of the Tempress Class from the Mongoose's Conan RPG.

What I did is took the style of the class and rebuilt for Pathfinder as a Bard Archetype, using the general format being used for the RPG Superstar. Let me know how well I did. :)

Note that this could never be officially published because of flagrant plagiarism throughout the text.

--- --- ---
Temptress (Bard)
The temptress (or more rarely the male equivalent, the tempter) is one who uses the power of sexuality to ensnare others. Her charm is used to get men and women to do her bidding; her seduction techniques are her weapons, as keen and deadly as any blade.

Bardic Performance (Ex) This ability is unchanged, except to note that temptresses favor Performance (Dance) above all other types for using this ability. The rare tempter however, prefers Perform (Oratory), as both poetry and storytelling, for the same purpose.

Comeliness (Ex): A temptress is gifted with an exceptionally well-formed face and body. She also takes pride in her appearance and is naturally well groomed, and often provocatively dressed. A temptress adds a +2 circumstance bonus to all Charisma based checks where her appearance might play a part. At 10th level, her beauty becomes legendary, increasing to a +4 circumstance bonus. And at 20th level, she is graceful in her age and more attractive then ever, she increases her circumstance bonus again to a +6. This ability replaces Bardic Knowledge.

Seductive Art (Ex): Starting at 2nd level, a temptress has gained an instinctive understanding of sexuality as it pertains to social situations. She adds half her level (minimum +1) as a competence bonus on Bluff, Diplomacy, Intimidate, Perform (any), and Sense Motive checks. This ability replaces Versatile Performance.

Outrageous Flattery (Ex): By the time she reaches 5th level, the temptress has fact sincerity countless times. When she says that a person has a lovely physique or an impressive stance, her statements sound completely plausible. She may take 10 on any Bluff or Diplomacy check, regardless of circumstances. She may of course, choose instead to roll normally. Once per day may take 20 on a Bluff or Diplomacy check as a standard action. She may do this one additional time per day for every six levels she possesses beyond 5th, to a maximum of three times per day at 17th level. This ability replaces Lore Master.

Savoir-Faíre (Ex): A temptress has a certain flair, dashing style, élan, or bravura that marks her as someone special. Everything she does is performed with a certain style. whether it be entering a room and turning heads, carving her initials into a tapestry with her rapier, or even savoring a meal to impress her host. She can intentionally attempt to impress others with her style in any task. The temptress makes any required checks normally, but if the result is five or more higher then the required DC to succeed, she has performed the deed with stunning flair. This automatically shifts the attitude of any NPCs witnessing the dead one step in her favor. This ability replaces Jack-of-All-Trades.

It's short and simple. I think I like it, though I'd love a longer, full SGG version of a class. :)

Under outrageous flattery, you mean "faked sincerity," right?

The only other thing I'd do is to change the spell selection slightly.

Any Charm style spell should be on the Temptress list, even if it isn't on the bard list. Maybe replacing sonic damage effects, which doesn't seem to be the style of the class anyways. If a Temptress needs something smashed, she is going to get that really big guy she seduced to do it instead.

Yes. (Failed my "Linguistics: Edit Text" skill check. :()

I went with a Bard archetype because I was also noticing that several Temptress abilities from the Conan RPG's original write-up are very similar to existing perform types.

For example:
Dance of Desire - Bards can already Fascinate, and at 1st level too.

Inspire - - Bards can already Inspire Courage and Inspire Competence

Art of Distraction - In Pathfinder, Bardic Distract has a completely different meaning. However, as the ability is written, this is just a re-flavoring of the Feint combat maneuver.

And some of the other abilities of the original class are either poorly defined or tend to fix the temptress to a location which is bad for an adventurer. And, while this concept pushes the game toward more "adult" themes, the orginal takes things much further - which may make some groups uneasy.

While the original was also set in a largely non-magical world, I felt that keeping the other perform types and spell-use allows her to fill most normal Bard functions in play. This is also why I didn't want to do major surgery with the weapons, armor, skill or spell lists.

Never notice this thread before. But I do notice I get blamed for a lot. DM made me do this, the voices in the dark made me do this, not my fault mortals are weak willed.

Excuses, excuses, excuses O Succubus Temptress!

I like the flavor texts - but I do find that the archetype is too narrow and focused right now. There is essentially no meaningful social challenge for this class after level 5 (where taking 10 is the norm and sufficient to beat any normal Adventure Path social DC at the level). Since archetypes in RPG Superstar that gave Take-10 on social skills were universally shot-down by the judges, I think it's worth re-thinking that aspect of the class.

I'd like to see more variation on the bardic performances. Surely something as mundane as inspire courage could be replaced with a far more appealing, like distracting dance.

Now that I have a copy, I'm going to suggest taking a look at the Siren (alternate Bard) from Alluria Publishing's Cerulean Seas book. That starts right off with a bunch of the "brainwhammy" abilities one would expect from a temptress archetype.

I like the archetype and ones for the Sorc and Witch could also be made. But I still say the Temptress deserves to be a base class. :)

i dont really see any need for such a archetype i think succubus fits this class idea better anyways.

Unless you are using a definition of the "Succubus" that I am not aware of, the demon type is Way to powerful to used as a PC.

I think the 3.5 Marshal might be a good skeleton to base a Temptress base class off of. She should have a way to buff her allies and de-buff her enemies.

I also had a Companion advanced class for a d20 Firefly campaign that might have some useful class features. I just gotta find it....

EDIT: I found it!:

Companions are elegant courtesans trained in the arts of seduction. They are respected and revered wherever they go.

5. Beguile
6. Bonus Feat
7. Domination
8. Advanced Sexual Healing
9. Bonus Feat

Extra Charming. The Companion gains the Charismatic Talent Charm for the sex she didn't choose before.

Seduction. The Companion spends 1 action point to activate this ability. The Companion adds her Reputation Bonus on her next Charisma check.

Astute. The Companion adds half her class level to her Sense Motive checks.

Bonus Feats. At levels 3, 6, and 9, the Companion chooses one of the following as a bonus feat. She must meet all prerequisites of the chosen feat.
Alertness, Archaic Weapons Proficiency, Blindfight, Confident, Creative, Deceptive, Defensive Martial Arts, Educated, Endurance, Focused, Improved Initiative, Lightning Reflexes, Nimble, Trustworthy, Weapon Finesse, Windfall.

Sexual Healing. The Companion must spend 1 action point activate this ability. At 4th level, a character that spends the night with a Companion regains hit points and ability points lost to temporary damage at an advanced rate--3 hit points per character level or 3 ability points restored per night spent enjoying the Companion's charms.

Beguile. At 5th level, the Companion can make a target character fall in love with her. The Companion must spend 1 action point to activate this ability. The target is allowed a Will Save with a DC of 10 + the Companion's Class Level + the Companion's Charisma modifier. If the target fails the Will Saving Throw, he becomes hopelessly in love with the Companion. The duration of this effect is a number of hours equal to 1d20 + the Companion's Charisma modifier + her Charm and Seduction modifiers. The target character has an attitude of Helpful. In addition, the Companion can force the target character to follow her commands by succeeding at an opposed Charisma check. The Companion adds her Charm and Seduction bonuses to this check as well.

Domination. The Companion must spend 1 action point to activate this ability. As an attack action, the Companion can target 1 character within 100 feet of her. The target is allowed a Will Save with a DC of 10 + the Companion's class level + her Charisma modifier. If the Will save is failed, the Companion can control the actions of a Medium sized or smaller humanoid creature. The Companion can generally force the subject to perform as she desires, within the limits of his abilities. Obviously self-destructive orders are ignored. Once control is established, the range at which it can be exercised is unlimited. The Companion does not need to see the target to control him. Control is maintained for 1 day per class level of the Companion.

Advanced Sexual Healing. The Companion must spend 1 action point to activate this ability. At 8th level, a character that spends the night with a Companion regains hit points and ability points lost to temporary damage at an advanced rate--5 hit points per character level or 5 ability points restored per night spent enjoying the Companion's charms. Also at 8th level, a character that spends the night with a Companion regains 1 point of ability drain.

Beguile the Masses. This ability is identical to the Beguile ability of the Companion, except it affects 1 target per class level of the Companion.
