That actually is a good question, due to the recently released "Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Lost Cities of Golarion" having some relevent information on this.
See the spoiler below, if you are not playing in RotRL.

I know I've read this in the material somewhere before, but we're doing character creation and one of my players wants to know the starting year in order to write up his back story, and I can't remember what it was or where I originally saw it. Anybody recall either?
Thanks in advance.
"The Swallowtail Festival begins promptly, as scheduled, on the first day of autumn."
I believe that would be in 4707, since the mod was published in 2007 and that's the convention they've been using (i.e. 4700 A.R. = 2000 A.D.).

The official calendar (slightly different from the 30-day-months that had been mentioned) is being printed in the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Inner Sea World Guide that's due out in a few months. Whatever the Swallowtail festival of 4707 lands on would be the appropriate start date.
And you know this ... how?

The developers have stated in other threads that the upcoming Inner Sea Guide will have an definitive Absalom reckoning calendar. I'm quite anxious for it seeing as how there have been contradictory information provided about it until now. I'd love to see it posted in a preview for the book.
