APG options for human oracle and sorcerer - broken?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

So, a human oracle or sorcerer can add one spell known, as long as it's one level lower than the highest level they can know. Isn't that the equivalent of taking Expanded Arcana every two levels? Seems to me that getting 10 feats is a lot better than 20 hp or 20 skill points. Am I looking at this wrong?

This came up when the book first came out and spawn a few threads. I houseruled it in my game to 1 spell for 2 favored class points.

If you do a search on it you will find many more opinions.

It's been thoroughly debated. I tend to agree with you; most favored class abilities are quite close in power to 1/4 of a feat, whereas the human sorcerer favored class ability is 1/2 of a feat. It's not a huge deal, I think, but I think wraithstrike's idea is a good one.

Ok, thanks for the link. I thought it might have been dealt with but I couldn't find anything in a quick search. My google-fu is weak.

We've been using it in our games for some time now. It doesn't appear to be at all broken as far as we can tell. YMMV.

Is not "ZOMG ONOEZ MY GAME IS NOW UNPLAYABLE" but is indeed very strong. IMHO wraithstrike solution is the best, but YMMV.

EDIT: yeah, too many acronyms.
