So, Groetus, what's your plan for tonight?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

He is called The God of the End Times; he has been running the longest stare contest in the known multiverse and has yet to lose; he is a skull-shaped moon that keeps reminding me I have to hurry back to Clock Town and retrieve Majora's Mask.

But... what is his agenda?

This is mostly a speculative question, since there seems to be no official (or even extra-official, as far as I know) version of what he's planning on doing the Friday night the last living soul kicks the bucket. But perhaps there is someone who has managed to put the pieces together and knows something of interest... or maybe not. But still should be an interesting discussion.

So, what do you think he's up to?

Stalking Pharasma for signs of weakness. Keeping one gigantic eye out for souls he can grab. Maybe counting up the number of souls that have come to the Boneyard so he can keep track of when the End Times have come?

Grand Lodge

I think he was asking why Groetus is pushing for the End Times. Of what benefit is the apocalypse to him?

Put him out of his misery ?

Maybe if the apocalypse comes, all souls come to him in a sort of divine deal with Pharasma. But if he can get more powerful sooner, he can maybe get access to all souls sooner by knocking her off.

To further the end of the world, maybe Groetus is seeking a way to come to Golarion and free Rovagug? Maybe he thinks he can do it by gaining more power? I admit, it's like asking what the motives are of the Death Star. When you're that big and designed to destroy worlds, it's hard to come up with more ideas than "destroy worlds".

Destroy worlds, go for ice cream :)

Maybe Groetus is the laziest god in the multiverse, and all he's doing is casting himself as the PR face of the end times. You know--sit back with a frosty glass of lemonade and let Rovagug do all the heavy lifting.

Is he pushing for it? Maybe the End of Times is the last thing he wants. He may dread the moment that he steps in to guide/announce/create the End of Times. Maybe it all was a misprint and he doesn't like people named Tim.

Greg

Shadow Lodge

I don't think it's something that benefits him in any way. Waiting for the end times is simply his job, his reason for existence etc. He really doesn't care.

But his cultists, who think they are honoring him, do.

Phase 1: Destroy universe
Phase 2
Phase 3: Profit

The thing is, all the other Doomsday Gods/Entities are actively trying to get the world destroyed somehow, yet Groetus seems to be *waiting* for it to happen, rather than do it himself.

Is he, as Erik mentions, the laziest god in the Multiverse, or his agenda is more complicated? Perhaps his plan is not about *ending* the world, but doing something *after* the world is already over.

After all, he's an astral body. A severe case of planet-envy, maybe?

Scarab Sages

Perhaps he's really inside the moon thing, and when Golarion dies, he will hatch using the souls of the Boneyard then consume the husk of the planet becoming a Galactus like entity.
