I have a character with a Halberd and the following feats:
Combat Expertise
Improved/Greater Trip/Fury's Fall
Combat Reflexes
Dodge/Mobility/Spring Attack/Whirlwind Attack
May I use Greater Trip (And Fury's Fall) to make a Trip attack against each adjacent foe? And then use Combat Reflexes to make an AoA against each prone opponent?
I ask, because as written, this looks like it's not legal.
Whirlwind Attack does not specifically say you can substitute a combat maneuver for the melee attack - is there an enabling rule in Combat that says a combat maneuver can always be substituted for a melee attack that I'm missing somewhere?
Whirlwind Attack:
Benefit: When you use the full-attack action, you can give up your regular attacks and instead make one melee attack at your highest base attack bonus against each opponent within reach. You must make a separate attack roll against each opponent.
When you use the Whirlwind Attack feat, you also forfeit any bonus or extra attacks granted by other feats, spells, or abilities.
The last sentence - "you also forfeit any bonus or extra attacks granted by other feats, spells or abilities" also seems to say that even if I can do the Greater Trip with Whirlwind Attack, I cannot get the extra Attack of Opportunities from Combat Reflexes.
Which is a pity - I'm picturing a very wuxia style fighter with this.
If I substituted Mobility/Spring Attack/Whirlwind Attack for Power Attack/Cleave/Great Cleave, would I be able to do multiple trips followed by multiple AoOs against prone foes?

Read careful maneuver section. Each combat maneuver separately states if it requires specific action or is made in place of melee attack. Trip is used in place of melee attack and not a separate action. Whirlwind Attack does not state that you cannot trip instead of dealing damage thus it seems to be legal tactic.
About the loss of bonus or extra attacks: I belive that due to "when you use" clause the intent of the rule was that no ability allowing making additional attacks in the same action like haste spell/speed quality, two-weapon fighting/flurry might increase number of attacks with Whirlwind. Attacks of opportunity are separate reactions outside of Whirlwind Attack and are not made "when you use Whirlwind Attack" and thus additional AoO from Combat Reflexes are not affected.
